Mastermind wrote:"And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God" (Luke 18:27).
I think that pretty much states God can do anything man cannot.
And I entirely advocate this verse. I just don't believe contradictionary feats are "things," but rather just nonsense. I can say God can do hietyushuao but it doesn't mean I'm saying something meaningful as it is just gibberish.
Mastermind wrote:For that verse you cited, I think I shall grab my own Bible(which is probably older than I am), and see what the translation is. Although seeing a lot of people have problems understanding the difference between does not and cannot, I wouldn't be surprised if the translator didn't either.
I wouldn't expect anything less, as that was the first thing I did (i.e., grabbed multiple translations). I even checked the strongs, and it definately appears to mean how it is translated.

Here is a thought on this question of the rock...
Can God make a rock even He can't lift ?
When Jesus was on earth he refused to do miracles in certain places because of unbelief. Matthew 13:54-58 And also He rebuked some because they wanted signs, and wonders. Luke 11:29 The performing of miracles was to facilitate the winning of the lost.

Now what is interesting that Satan will decieve people with signs & wonders. Mark 13:22

So back to the rock. God would not build a rock so big that He could not lift it !!! Because God resisteth the proud and gives grace to the humble. James 4:6

 Why do I say this? Consider the Rich Man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31 where he asked father Abraham to send someone from the grave so his brothers would believe. Abraham said to the man in hell, they have Moses and the Prophets.

Therefore God would never make a rock so big He could not lift it.
Thanks for listening,
Compassion

I like the way that Norman Geisler put it in one of his books:

It is like asking "is there something more than infinite?" or "what is the smell of blue?"-a category mistake. logical impossibilities.
God's omnipotence does not mean that He can do what is impossible, only that He has the power to do anything that is actually possible, even if it is impossible for us. Any mountain that God makes, He can control, put where He wants, and disintegrate if He likes. You can't ask for more power than that.
