Bizarre verse Touchingcloth! As a former atheist myself - and a rabid one at that - may I ask you why you chose this verse as favorite?

I think it is a favourite for the atheist because - again, I THINK - it makes them feel quite smug in that they feel they have exposed some thing which makes God look like a barbarian...Or something. Perhaps TC will clarify for us; but I won't hold it against him. When C. Hitchens spews out this verse it is done within an agenda for his debate; TC is a good man, I feel, at heart and is just a wee misguided. Having said all of that, I'm now leaving myself wide open for TC to come in an completely obliterate my assumption...
It's certainly one of the few verses that springs quickly to mind, if not my favourite.
To pick a favourite I'd probably plump for one of the espousals of the golden rule, or the parable of the good Samaritan. I think those are themes that resonate and have resonated throughout most of humanity.

It's an indicator that the bible is real, though. If God supporters only wrote the bible, then all in it would be a rosy view of God. The bible includes difficulties and like this verse, records some people's honest view about God of Judaism. In this case, too, it is an indicator about Moses' family life, I'm sure; apparently his earthly life wasn't perfect.
