That's a bit extreme, Socrates was leading the way from the cave without Christianity. The input of Islam is hard to discount, if it weren't for the Christian curiosity could Islam have taken up the slack given an other few hundred years to catch up? Who knows

If it weren't for Christianity islam might not be around to make that counterpoint in this first place ;)
