Having free will is a far cry from exercising free will.
WE can have all the free will we want, but if our heart desire is not for God, we will never exercise that will.
One analogy I have heard- You can say you have free will concerning the foods you eat, but if you absolutely detest spaghetti, that you won't choose it.
