Certainly the other virgin births are myths. The gospel tells us time and time again that Joseph was the father of Jesus. Why is that so hard to comprehend? And Joseph, we know is from the line of David. Jesus is the Messiah. I'm not saying he wasn't. I'm just saying that the gospels can too have some errors, written by mortal men years later.
In Greek mythology there is Perseus, whose mother was Diana. The god Zeus fell lasciviously in love with Diana and sent down a rain of gold which descended upon her in her seclusion and caused her to conceive. Perseus was born of this miraculous conception.
Hercules was also the product of Zeus his father, and a mortal woman. Do these ring a bell?
That's all fine and dandy but Zeus PHYSICALLY came down to earth and had sex with mortal women. In fact, Hera was pissed off at him all the time BECAUSE he engaged in "physical activity" with them. They were not virgins anymore after Zeus was done with them. And Zeus didn't send down a rain of gold on Perseus's mother, he turned himself into rain to get to the underground dungeon she was kept in TO HAVE SEX WITH HER. There is no greek myth that doesn't involve a god having sex with a mortal woman and getting her impregnated. That's not even close to leading to a virgin birth in my book.

Can a Christian be a bartender with a clear conscious?
We are all responsible for our own issues but what about serving someone alcohol who you know is an alcoholic because you are paid to serve drinks?
But then where does it end? Working in a dvd store and giving someone porn to rent out etc.

I personally couldn't do it.

Do DVD rental stores still exist? But no, I don't think I could work in an adult dvd store. Nor could I work in a store where I had to sell cigarettes either. Cigarettes are evil!!!

I've never used that description on my wife. If I did I can predict an eyeroll and no comment....because she's used to me after 33 years.

Oinos (the Greek word for 'wine' at the wedding is the word we get 'wino' from, and is BY DEFINITION 'fermented fruit or vegetable juice
BTW GLUTTONY is a far greater and more common sin in the USA. . .Just go to McDonalds or Walmart to see good examples of the results of it!

Exactly. When you are drunk/high God isn't there, and you are very open to Satans attacks. When you aren't thinking logically and clearly then it's very easy to be decieved.
Gluttony is a sin too. There are MANY others too. Each has its consequences. Overeating usually leaves you less alert, more lethargic, and with slower response times.
You can make a WHOLE LIST of 'good Christians don't. . .But of course JESUS NEVER DID. Why would YOU?

The irony...
Don't work at bar serving drinks or God forbid at a dvd store where the content may be dubious but serve up the triple cheese burger with extra fries and a gallon of coke or better yet be a stock broker that works by the principal of another's gain is another's loss. Be a lawyer whose reputation relies upon manipulating the law to bring about the greatest personal profit. And if you're feeling bold be a politician where all aspects of truth, becomes dubious depending upon the preferred outcome.
Yet somehow the little guy is the issue??
The bartender or the girl making minimal wage selling the DVDs behind the counter. Way to to take onus off the real issues.

Yes, Christians can be a bartender with a clear conscience. But then again, no Christians I know have a clear conscience but are fully aware of their sin and ask Christ for forgiveness.
