Unnecessary, if, acknowledging there is no theism, why would there even be atheism ? There is no light if everywhere, there is darkness.
My scenario was not about "no theism" it was about if you knew theism was false.
Ken
Here we go again...
Kenny,
You do realize if theism is false, that's the same as saying theism doesn't exist, don't you?
No! As long as there are people who
believe God exists, there will be theist.
Ken
That's my point Kenny. Theism is defined as:
belief in the existence of a god or gods, especially belief in one god as creator of the universe, intervening in it and sustaining a personal relation to his creatures.
Theism is a belief system. If it's false, that would mean it's not a belief system, and therefore if it's not what it is, it doesn't exist.
Get it? Got it? Good!

So for those of you who are atheists - what would your reply be?
Of course! If you
knew theism was false, would'nt you become Atheist?
Ken
Not so
If you said no I still wouldnt be A christian even if I knew christianity was true, then obviously your problem is not just a mere intellectual one
The answer to the question is suppose to help reveal what issue the atheist has with christianity e.g moral or intellectual etc
It does a very poor job of it
Ken
Not so.
If you still wouldnt become a christian even after finding out christianity is true then your problem is not just a mere intellectual one.

No, if Theism is false that simply makes it a false belief system.

I guess it depends upon how one defines "Christianity". Also would you mine answering my question?

I thought I just did.
The question is a useful tool in helping to find out why a person is not be a christian.

Yes.
To say no would go against logic and make Christianity irrational

My scenario was not about "no theism" it was about if you knew theism was false
doesn't no theism = theism was false ? If theism was false there would be no theism, therefore no reason to be an atheist
No; my question was, if you found out Theism was false, would you become Atheist?
and why would I become something completely opposite to what I believed, when that belief was (turned out to be) false ? There would be no reason for me to affiliate myself with atheism when the reason for the word (atheism) is falsified.
Can you be a dog catcher if there aren't any dogs... even if
you never believed there were dogs ? And if, we were to find out there never were any dogs, why would you call yourself an antidog catcher ?... after finding out the idea of dogs was false ?

I had heard WLC give the "yes" response to someone but I guess I can see your point.
Kind of like when harris, hitchens and dawkins say they don't like the word atheism cos it's not like there's any word to describe someone who doesn't believe in santa or the tooth fairy

It would make your belief irrational. A religion can be a rational belief for a person even if that religion is false.

EssentialSacrifice wrote:doesn't no theism = theism was false ?
No it does not.
No theism: means nobody believes in God. Weather God exists or not is irrelevant.
Theism is false: Means of all the people who believe in various Gods, they are all wrong because God does not exist.
EssentialSacrifice wrote:If theism was false there would be no theism, therefore no reason to be an atheist
Going by that logic, if (for example) Hinduism were a false religion, Hindus would not exist. The fact that India has a billion of 'em proves just because something is false doesn't mean there will not be those who believe it to be true.
