But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
(Galatians 5:22-23 ESV)

Gluttony is a symptom of lacking self-control.

I eat more if I am under stress. I don't eat just for the wanton lust for food. I am not sure it could be called gluttony or lack of self control. I guess it could be the latter but I don't see how to get control of it.

Maybe we need to define "gluttony"?

I think most people have curled up on the coach from time to time with a bag of chips, a bowl of ice cream, a chocolate bar ect.
Comfort food.
Food is obviously something we need, but there is joy to be had in food.
So much effort at times goes into preparing it, sonetimes we indulge in our efforts and eat too much.
Food can be central to family gatherings, special occasions.
It's a balance.
If we indulge sonetimes because it's our birthday or Christmas, or Easter :esurprised: I looove chocolate or because we are down its okay.
But if we are greedy and it becomes a compulsion. An inability to control it. Not once or twice or occassionally but habitually impossible to control then there may be an issue.
Greed has many forms and food is one of many.

I seem to eat a lot when I'm in pain. Like right after I get a tattoo, or body piercing.

In fact, I ate a whole gallon of ice cream just looking at this painful picture:

Erk ^^

I like the thinking smilie - always thought it looked cute y:-? I thought it was looking off to the left but examining it more closely it seems to be looking straight ahead. y:-? y:-? y:-?

Anyway - I certainly have a gluttonous streak, although I tend to forget it's a sin. Food, or more specifically treat-type stuff, has always been a big thing for me. With boredom or tiredness I usually go looking for a treat (at home at least). I think one of the big problems these days is the huge variety of unhealthy treats you can get. I guess gluttony has always been a problem for some people though. Sometimes I manage some self-control - not that I'm eating all the time otherwise but at those moments when I want something I don't think I really need I can sometimes abstain.

Obviously this is gluttony to the extremes.

So how would you react to this video? Would you just be as disgusted as all the
other facebookers that commented? or would you have something different to say to her?

Pssssst! patrick - feel like finishing off all that pizza? ;) :P

From time to time.. is that as in day time and then night time? :P cos Im thinking maybe i don't necessarily have a problem

It's just hard cos unless you have motivation like Phillip did, we tend to put off what we can get away with. Like um procrastination

But that deserves its own thread 8)
