In church:

1. People who say "amen" after every point the preacher makes. It's a way of forcing attention to themselves and I find it incredibly distracting.

2. Preachers who preach during prayer, making the prayer about whatever subject he wants to be the focus, rather than bringing the congregation's focus to God.

3. Preachers who only use the Bible as an intro to talk about what they want to talk about, rather than illuminating what the Bible is talking about.

4. Preachers who talk about themselves incessantly, aka the "Mark Driscoll Syndrome". It reminds me of Brian Regan's "Me Monster" routine.

1.The things people accept as truth without real evidence to support it especially if it comes from man and not God.
2.Christians who believe man instead of God and his word.
3.False doctrine in the church.
4.The lies and deceptions Satan uses to decieve people.
5.Intellectual dishonesty.

Okay this one is a big peeve of mine......
Facts are facts.
Why when the vast majority of scientist and an even vaster majority of climate scientist all claim that the earth's climate is changing, this issue is made into some political agenda between the left and right.
If you believe in climate change and the extremely detrimental effects we are having on this planet from deforestation, animal extinction rates, pollution in the forms of CO2 into the atmosphere, phosphorus and nitrogen into the water ways then you are some sort of lefty, socialist.
It's ridiculous.
The data is irrefutable and over 90% of scientist agree.
Then there is the tiny minority spreading misinformation not unlike in the 50's-80's when some scientists said smoking was not bad for you, or the data was inconclusive. People employed by the tobacco companies to spread disinformation to the unsuspecting public, even though they knew very well the scientific evidence was alarming and conclusive. They knew better than anyone, they had spent the most money researching it. But the mighty dollar, saw them twist this information so that they could continue to make billions of dollars.
Without a care for public safety.
Money wins.
This is not a case of wishy washy evidence.
50/50 scenario where the scientist are disagreeing.
Climate scientists agree.
The earth is changing as a direct result of our management of resources.
The data proves it.
Yet the multi billion dollar industries who are putting the mighty dollar before public safety who know damn well where the evidence points are pumping out disinformation to the public and people are buying it and twisting it into some sort of political sparring match.
Which is exactly what they want.
They continue to make money, why people argue over indisputable evidence and turn it into a political circus.
Does anyone really think that we can sustain this plunging of natural resources at a rate that humanity has never done so before without there being detrimental effects.
It's cause and effect.

Ohh rant over

Bad neighbors.

The latest is a neighbor right next door, who leaves her dog out all day and night. And it barks, and won't shut up. What kind of an idiot gets a dog and leaves it out all the time?

No Rick,
No political agenda on my behalf.
I find it extremely intriguing and I am both baffled and curious as to why conservative Christians are so quick to dismiss the scientific evidence that clearly points to major changes occurring on this planet as a direct result of our actions. It has nothing to do with any theological standpoint, it's not lack of evidence, it is purely political.
It becomes very ambigious who exactly is funding and lobbying these politicians and conservative think tanks that oppose Global warming to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.
Any guesses?
I have a few y:-?

I'm curious to whom you are referring. Are you talking about conservative groups that profit from man made global warming not being true?

What groups are you talking about?

They are profiting or being funded, the question is by whom?
The money trails have been investigated and companies like the Koch Affiliated Foundations and the ExxonMobil Foundation were heavily funding hundreds of climate denial organizations, like conservative think tanks. In the last several years most of the funds are no longer visible as they are going through third parties who do not publicise the donors, but interestingly since the funding has become 'invisible' the oil affiliated companies have ceased to donate but the anonymous donors have poured more money into these organisations than ever before.
This is accessible information what is not accessible is who is donating these millions of dollars.
It should be public.
I would bet my last razoo that it's the oil companies.
They certainly have a vested interest, they already were before the funding slipped into third party organisations like Donors trust and Donors Capital Fund.

The problem is when one thinks that the ONLY lies are coming from the left OR from the right. Political persuasion doesn't change human nature - EVERYONE has some agenda! Anyway, Holy thread hijack, Batman! A light conversation on pet peeves turns to the eternal argument over GW.
