As for Easter, even Snopes knows the truth about the name:

(Contrary to some modern claims, the term "Easter" was not derived from the name of Ishtar, the Assyrian and Babylonian goddess of fertility and sex.)

Some adherents of Islam openly preach violence and warfare. Others condemn such preaching. What the Quran (or any holy book) says on the matter is interesting to discuss, but generally doesn't impact it's adherents' behavior as much as things like poverty, hopelessness, or fear.

I hadn't heard the Ishtar thing. Odd. I thought everyone knew that most of the Christian holidays are reporposed pagan festivals. That's how early Christian leaders made headway. You can't just ban all the fun stuff, you have to add it to your own tapestry.

I don't know if agree 100% with that in the case of Islam and things like Sharia Law.

When Christianity became the official religion of the Roman empire, it very naturally "adopted" many customs and made them Christian, people shouldn't have any issues with that UNLESS it goes against EXPLICIT BIBLE teachings.
Heck, going against things that are of pagan origin is pretty much goings against anything from Baptism to wedding rings and honeymoons.

The propagandizing “fact-checking” website SNOPES is being run by a whore-digger who defrauded the publisher out of $98,000 to hire prostitutes, say now-public divorce documents. One of the site’s administrators is an “escort-porn star,” and a fact-checker at SNOPES turns out to be a fetish sex blogger named “Vice Vixen domme,” explains the UK Daily Mail. The SNOPES organization, reports the paper, was founded through an elaborate fraud scheme, and its CEO married an international escort worker who traveled the globe to be banged by “VIP” clients who posted glowing online reviews of why she’s such a good choice to be hired as a “lover.”

Prostitutes for the Presstitutes: SNOPES fact-checkers revealed to be actual whores, fraudsters and deviant left-wing fetish bloggers

Sharia law gets a bad rap. Westerners talk about it as if it meant the same thing to all Muslims and was completely devoid of nuance and unimpacted by cultural, social, historical, and economic factors. Some of the worst offenders are people who are incensed when others talk about their beliefs in the same black and white terms.

actually, this is incorrect. Ishtar and easter are both pronounced the same, and this is where the bunnies and eggs come into the picture. eggs and bunnies are both signs of fertility, and since she was the goddess of fertility, those were her symbols.

You, of course, have proof of this, correct?
By the way, Pronunciation is not evidence of anything.

Sorry, Stu, but I'm not going to join you in your fake news echo chamber.

Jenna, eggs and rabbits have both been common pagan fertility symbols. Scholars think that the word Easter has its origins in Old German. The word for Easter in Greek and Latin is Pascha. The consensus view is that the English name was taken from a preexisting German pagan fertility goddess, who was celebrated in April - the beginning of Spring. Why would Western take the name of an ancient Babylonian goddess for a Christian holiday with a completely different name? Why would ancient German-speakers even have heard of Ishtar?

OK then, I guess that only applies to the English since, for example, to Latin based countries it is not Easter but Pasqua.

So much for the name I guess, that was easy enough.

LOL it seems you're the one in the echo chamber. Anything that contradicts your views you just label fake news.

If you haven't been taking notice the New York Times (a former employee exposed that they have a predetermined agenda and anything that doesn't fit within that has to be rewritten), CNN (takes money from states to write pro-stories or no stories at all - Saudi Arabia in this case), and the many others are now the fake news.

Wake up.
