Coniah is a descendent of David. All the forms of his name are Jehoachin, Joiachin, Jeconiah, Jechoniah, and Coniah. He was one of the last two kings of Judah, and a descendent of David via the royal line. I don't know all the details, but he did something to upset God, and was referred to in Jeremiah 22:28-30(where the curse is mentioned) as a despised, shattered jar, and as an undesirable vessel.

Like all of the kings of Judah, he was wicked and displeased the Lord. He was therefore cursed to be the last royal descendent of his line. None of his descendents would "prosper sitting on the throne of David or ruling again in Judah."

Joseph is a biological descendent of Coniah. Jesus is not Joseph's biological son. Ergo Jesus has no biological ties to Coniah, but still has ties to the throne of David due to his adoptive status. He's the heir, but not a descendent.

Well now that you say Jehoachin I know who you're talking about! Hadn't heard of that Coniah person, but did read of the others! I get it now! Thank you!

But that's still not exactly the same kind of generational curse we were talking about, right? That's a special curse from sin, but not the general kind we were mostly speaking of, right?

At least I consider them different, and so accept that generational curses no longer exist. Well, but if they ended with Jesus, so did Jehoachin's curse! So do we all agree that they've been done away with?

Yeah, the "curse" on Joseph's family line isn't exactly what's meant by a generational curse. I think Felgar said best what a generational curse really is, and what was meant by the relevent sayings(sour grapes and all that).
