Personally I find it VERY hard to believe that Canadians have even considered legalising public nudity. Frostbite, anyone?

And there are actually quite few truly "socialist" systems left in Western Europe. The UK politics are becoming more right/centre-right all the time, France has a conservative government, as does Italy, Germany has a left/right coalition...It's only Spain that I can think of (outside of Scandinavia) that has a "socialist" government. Sweden, as everyone seems to know, is pretty left wing, and has been for some time. I'm not sure about the other Nordic countries. And the Netherlands government is Liberal - think Ayn Rand, only a little less so.
As for same-sex marriage, I say go for it. If two people want to commit themselves, by law, to a lifetime together then good luck to them both. No one's saying religious institutions have to perform the service, and personally I wouldn't be comfortable marrying another man in a Church, Mosque, Temple or Synagogue.
