Evidence for God from Science

Ok, my take on the star was that it was good, since obviously it came from God. However, the star didn't appear on the day Christ was born! christ was born in a manger, but when the wise men came into Bethlehem, Christ was around two years old. Notice verse 11 in chapter 2, "when they had come into the HOUSE, they saw the young child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshipped Him". Christ had not just been born at this time! That is why He was in a HOUSE, instead of a manger at this point. Continuing the verse- And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense and myrrh. They were not giving Christ birthday presents! In those times, it was customary to bring presents when you came before a king. the presents they gave were presents to their king, Jesus. One more verse, same chapter, verse 16: Then Herod, when He saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from TWO YEARS OLD and under, according to the time which he had determined form the wise men. These verses let us know it wasn't Christ's birthday they were celebrating, since He was around 2 years old.

Nothing I disagree with. I was simply fishing for info to see how close your theology aligns with that of the Watchtower (who regard the star of Bethlehem as an evil act since they believe it was an indirect cause for Herod's decision to kill Bethlehem's young). Traditionally the star of Bethlehem is seen as a pivotal event in the spread of the gospel beyond the immediate vicinity.

As in my previous post, I don't even read the watch tower. Thanks for the input though.

I believe it was a good thing due to the fact it was bringing prophecy to fruitation. (if that is a word)

I was reading elsewhere about the Magi, it stated these magi in those days were King Makers, in the respect that they were ENORMISILY WEALTHY, also they could see signs in stars and stuff like that so they were consulted allot by royalty; and generally if they gave kudos to whom ever this was a good thing. The gifts they brought were not just small packages it was loads of gold frankincense and myrrh. Baby Jesus was set for life if he were a mere mortal to whom those things mattered.

Has anyone viewed the movie Star of Bethlehem? I was so impressed I bought several copies for family/friends. This is more of a research (but v well done) and a lawyer's discovery of how it is SO true that, as this site quotes Ps 19: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands."

According to this man, with modern technology, we can date the Magi's visit to the Christ Child as (approximately perhaps) one year after his birth. So, that would be the first Christmas (not that they had Mass at that time), or at least the first acknowledgment of foriegners of his Kingship.

Just reading the information here is impressive, but believe me, seeing the video is even more impressive. If you are a believer, it will reinforce and amaze you. If you are not a believer, perhaps it will at least get you thinking that the Bible is NOT just a bunch of made-up stories or "myths".
