Evidence for God from Science

Uhh. Women ministers are rare and typically only found in protestant denominations that have decide-for-yourself type theology. Contrary to the swing of this thread, I'd suggest that Paul's verses are being followed by the vast majority.

While that might be the norm, we cannot say from scripture that women are deprived from being a spokesperson for God either. I don't believe there is anything morally wrong with that. Man can be fallible too... I believe God can chose any vessel he wants as his messenger. Nor can we say from scripture that women are anything less than man in the eyes of God, Galatians 3:28.

Agreed. I don't have a problem with a women teacher/minister. I forget where exactly, but in one of Paul's letters he explicity says something like (I'm paraphrasing), "this is my opinion and not from the Lord." I'm not sure if it was in reference to the particular issue we're talking about, but perhaps that was the case on more than one occasion, such as this one.

What youre remembering had to do with marrying as opposed to being single. paul advocated being single but noted that was his opinion and not from the Lord.

Note the New Testament couple Priscilla and Aquilla. Why do you think Priscilla was always mentioned first?

Where this discussion is going spiritually is dangerous, especially in light that there is a non-believer asking about a faith they are interested in and un-biased, well-thought answers are owed. While I do not agree with everything Marcosll has said, Please consider that good trees bear good fruit, and that we are to question any scripture in the bible that seems not to bear good fruit such as this one.

There is a warning at the end of the bible to anyone who tampers with the text, which means God must have had some insight (of course) into the ways of man (fallible and proven to error) and that it is POSSIBLE that not EVERY WORD in the bible is true.

Please do not turn away those interested in Christianity for asking questions that you would ask of any other religion.

I think the bible makes it pretty clear that women should not talk in church.

So why are women allowed to talk in church?

In real life and real Christianity, women are equal with men and have every right a man does. And as the Lord said and as the prophets and prophetesses said, We ought to obey god and not man, nor the inequalities that man puts on women.

Equality is what the Lord tuaght and showed, and demonstrated and lived. Onl;y church systems aligned to the power of teh patriarchy teach women to shut up and be submissive to their worldly husbands. It keeps them in place, but the Lord taught all to speak up and be hionest and serve him regardless of gender, sex, intect, heritage or any other shallow characteristic. All can prophesy, all can speak, all can teach if they have been taught in equality and love and the principles the Lord taught
