I removed the link.
Those interested in seeing beheading of Christians (I assume this is on the video) please contact FL to provide a link.

Yes, thanks Hana.
It's good the link was pulled.
Because it's exactly what ISIS would want -- their evil crap promoted where possible.
I get your point FL, but still consider it far from the best idea if you're wanting to burst bubbles of our lives.

Hmmm...the video is quite gruesome, and well edited. The narrator speaks with an American accent. I'm not sure what ISIS wants apart from reestablishing the caliphate. Hiding our head in the sand is typical Western behavior, so I'm not surprised that the video was pulled by Hana, nor do I care. More interesting is the timid response from mainstream Islam about ISIS & boko haram butchery.

Interesting, or typical?
Sadly, it seems to only be important news if it comes reaches the civilised doorsteps in our own countries.
I do agree with you on that front that we live in bubbles created by the comfort of our countries or lifestyles.
BUT, then what are the solutions FL?
If the bubble can be pricked... or heads pulled out of sand... what then?
I use to be on some Facebook groups.
A lot of news was terrible. I felt obliged to read the stories, to see the pictures, videos know what is really happening.
It just left me depressed, and feeling hopeless. Even angry at God that He didn't/doesn't pour out His righteous wrath upon us all.
Such is not healthy nor necessarily worthwhile as a Christian.
Even though such things are sadly true, and going on around the world, such just makes us feel bitter, hopeless, resentful, angry and hateful.
Well it did me anyhow. And you know who wants us, wanted me, to feel that way?

Yes, you are right, "typical" would have been accurate.
Kurieuo wrote:BUT, then what are the solutions FL? If the bubble can be pricked... or heads pulled out of sand... what then?
There is
NO solution! Things will just get worse. At best, we can slow down the process but there is no solution. For Christians who believe what the Bible says - and there are less and less of us as time goes by - prophecy was written long ago about this time. The good news is that Jesus will win the battle in the end.

Hmmm...I don't like these events but I don't get depressed about these things. I see them as
confirmation of the biblical text.

Who wants you to feel that way? The easy answer is Evil or terrorists or something outside yourself. Apart from righteous anger, all the emotions you noted are negative: bitterness, hopelessness, resentfulness and hate. Anger can promote action (as with your anti-abortion activities) but the other emotions promote escapisms: alcohol, TV, beating your wife, and whatever other negative things you can think of...
So, to conclude, 1. there is nothing we can do to make things better, 2. Jesus wins in the end, 3. don't let this stuff get to you in a negative way, 4. do something positive: pray, promote a ministry or do something adapted to your personality.

Do you think FL that I need to watch the beheading in order to know how beheading looks like?
Tell me, what is more in that video. If you want us to be informed then inform us. Write it down.

Watching a beheading isn't for everyone. I saw a Saudi documentary on executioners who must learn how to behead cleanly and with a single stroke while the condemned person is either standing or kneeling. Saudi Arabia beheads about 500 people in an average year, the documentary claimed. The executioners must also chop off hands, arms, feet, and legs for lesser offences, as well as administer whippings. In Saudi Arabia, executioners are certified professionnals who undergo years of training under a mentor, and must successfully complete exams in physiology and psychology.
In contrast to the Saudi professionnals, the ISIS executioners are cruel butchers. Both, however, administer Sharia correctly...Praise be to Allah

In Saudi Arabia, executioners are certified professionals who undergo years of training under a mentor, and must successfully complete exams in physiology and psychology.
Heck, they probably have their own craftsman association and mandatory annual hours of continuing education.
In contrast to the Saudi professionals, the ISIS executioners are cruel butchers.
In other words, they're unlicensed "hacks." Which might be funny if this weren't so hideous, sad and REAL - which is probably why FL posted the link, as the impact of actually seeing it has to be especially powerful, in comparison to merely reading about it.

Is that correct FL? Is that the reason you posted the video?

But....
As I said earlier, call me naïve but I didn`t realise exactly what was on that video and if I had, I wouldn`t have watched it.
I am a sensitive soul, I still have nightmares about those poor souls that leapt to their death from the WTC and I have enough horror in my heart already. I don`t want to add to it. While I don`t agree with FL posting the link, I appreciate that is just my personal opinion, what I object to, what has upset me, is that I feel tricked into watching something that I have no desire to see. Now, I cannot unsee what I have seen. Perhaps I should have guessed but I do feel that if things like that are going to be posted there should be a clear warning.

Yes, they do! Also, if they screw up an execution by not making a clean cut (
Storyteller, avoid reading the following), if they have to chop two or more times, they must go back into training. This is a great shame for them but it routinely happens to inexperienced executioners.
Up until I saw the documentary, I assumed that a condemned person would lay their head on a block and the executioner would just cut it off
CHOP! and that was it. Actually, (
Storyteller, please go and read posts about UFOs) the condemned individual has a black cloth over his/her head, and must stand or kneel in a kind of sandbox. The executioner must approach the criminal silently and administer justice swiftly,
preferably without the condemned being aware of the exact moment.
That's grace, Wahabi style!

Personally, I can't watch stuff like that, although I well know how terribly real and serious it is. Burning alive, stoning, mutilations, beheadings - I don't need to see such, can't bear to. But I know, for some people, such things are just routine words on page 3 of a newspaper. Real footage of such atrocities can have a powerful impact in waking up naive people to the very real and horrid reality of what is going on. Meanwhile, most of the world is just immersed in their video games, mindlessly texting and Facebooking away the narcissistic minutia of their lives. The masses often fail to realize the very real threats of evil until it is upon their doorsteps or it touches someone they know (think ISIS, al-Qaeda Taliban, etc).

The mass graves in Tikrit with the remains of over 1700 Iraqi soldiers massacred by ISIS a few months ago are now being exhumed. I just want you to know that I won't be posting the video...
If you ever get a chance to visit a concentration camp, do so. You won't see any bodies. However, the buildings, the showers, the ovens, the hangman's noose, the barracks, the dissection tables, the storage rooms for the victims' shoes, clothes, receptacles for gold teeth and for women's hair...everything is still there. At any camp you visit, people walk around in hushed silence. Whether in a building or walking outside, people whisper.
To fully appreciate Evil, there is nothing like experiencing it yourself or seeing the evidence...
