He will rule in the future, right now He is in heaven.

As much as some Christians don't like it, the Bible says that Satan is the current ruler of this world. Now that obviously doesn't mean every inch or corner of the world.

But why would the devil tempt Jesus then - by saying that all He has to do is bow down before Satan and then He can have all that He sees before Him. Naturally Jesus/God "own" the earth, they made it, but perhaps Satan has been given temporary ownership of earth.

When Adam and Eve ate the fruit, allowing sin into the world, it was then that Satan became the prince of this world, and as we see in the Bible God has been working with that ever since, and will finish it at the last judgement.

Question is what is "the world". We aren't to conform to the world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Jesus was in the world, and the world knew Him not and rejected Him. Jesus kingdom isn't of this world, yet is found in it, with us. The Lord's prayer, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
