Trust me, it is important enough. You will never get me to say with absolute certainty that there is no god. About reading the bible, do you ignore the nasty bit at the front or what? Because we all know who the "bad guy" is in that part of it.
Doctor, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure I understand. Can you elaborate on this?

Well, the truth is important isn't it? I would rather know the truth than be happy. I can live with a practical certainty, just not absolute certainty, are you absolutely sure that your god exists? How many miracles does god do these days? Not a lot right? Apart from branding his face on toast! Wow its a miracle!
I read something(in the bible) that kind of confirms a fear I've had...The fear that there could be a evil god. I'll see how it turns out, but Exodus is turning out to be a pretty bloodthirsty story.

If God is evil, then I think I could do a much better job at being evil.
That is, I can think of a world with a whole lot worse evil than the evil our world experiences.

You can imagine a world a lot more evil hey?
I suppose this must be hell that you are talking about. So how is an eternity of torment not evil? Is the being that needs this just a sadistic bastard or what? Oblivion is preferable to such a monstrous concept.

No, not the hell I believe does exist.
If God were evil I'd expect a lot worse creation. Maybe something akin to a world like the Valley of Hinnom, or Nazi death camps where Jews were tortured at the hands of the likes of "Dr" Mengele. An order in the world where such evil is perpetual across every inch and there is no respite for anyone within. Now... that is what I'd expect of an evil God.

God created us as eternal beings and did not want us to sin, nor did he create us for that purpose. But we do sin. We are told what God wants us to do and what he doesn't want us to do, and we go against it. But a single sin is enough to cut us off from God. This is why Jesus died on the cross. If we accept and are thankful for what Jesus did for us, our sins are not counted against us.
The eleventh doctor, those who do not accept God's gift do have their transgressions counted against them. This means that they cannot be with God in Heaven. This means they must be punished. Considering all the warning they have been given...
Now, in Heaven, we can do no evil and in a sense, aren't as "free" as we were on Earth. Would someone who rejects God's gift want this situation?
An evil God would create us and kill us off for the sport of it. If God were evil, He would laugh at this. Every single time God has to commit judgement, he is saddened. He doesn't want to do it, but it is necessary.

Where does the bible teach that?
My bible continually says that man is appointed to die, then be judged and all those that don't please God will be destroyed.

Several places…
Ecclesiastes 3:11, 14 note context is summed up by verse 14
Romans 5:12 also tells us that through sin — death entered the world of humanity…
Genesis 2:17 - ask how could this be a penalty if dying of old age was possible before the fall?
Note the mystery spoken in 2 Samuel 14:14 concerning the Lord not taking away life…
Just a few… that support Ecclesiastes 3:11

OK, so those without sin imputed have eternal life.
But, no-one is born in that position, are they?
Were you?

First off, please do not confuse God's placement of eternity in a person's heart with salvations eternal life. Well meaning people err in doing this, thus, confusing the terms.
Question from Christian perspective: Do people face eternity without God or eternity with God?
Those are the choices — eternal life with the Lord or eternal life without God (Matthew 25:46)
Fact is - Eternity remains —
just where do you want to spend it and with whom?
