Neo, ultimately, you are showing faith in a discipline of man (statistical genetics) that may have some significant deficiencies (in both methodology and application) over Scripture, which claims to be inerrant - which JESUS claimed was inerrant. There are many assumptions concerning genetics and DNA, and statistical genetics is a science still in it's infancy. Just remember how Einstein was once convinced of the universe being in a Steady State. Of course, if one believes the OT is not fact, then they would also have to show that Jesus didn't teach that the entire OT was true.
In Matthew 5:17,18, Jesus says "Think not that I have come to destroy the law, or the prophets." Here, He puts together the law and the prophets, indicating that they are equal in authority.
After the resurrection, in Luke 24:25- 27, Jesus states, "O fools, and slow of heart to believe ALL that the prophets have spoken."
In Luke 16:19-21, Jesus makes clear the authority of the Old Testament. Here he concludes that "if they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Here, he puts together Moses and the prophets, and makes a very definite statement about their final authority. He makes a similar statement in John 5:46,47: "For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?" Here, Jesus equates His word with that of Moses. According to Him, the teaching of the Old Testament is on a par with His own teaching.
Now, the above is not to say that one must know PRECISELY how the OT is true (per Creation time, etc.) - but SOMEHOW we should realize it IS true! Normally, I wouldn't think water could be turned (instantly) into wine, but Scripture tells me that happened. Do I doubt it because science tells me such a thing is impossible?
Don't worry, Neo, I still love you, man!

Philip wrote:I have only objected to where it says that they were the first man and woman. Besides that I have maintained that Adam and Eve could be real people who started the Hebrew line and had an encounter with God.
OK, so do you believe that this idea that Adam and Eve were the first humans - do you believe it was made up/pure fiction? "COULD be real people" - again, if you are not certain that the text is true, how did that get in there; how could it NOT be true? And why did Jesus confirm ALL of the OT text by framing ALL of the words of ALL of The Prophets and The Law? How could these stated facts about Adam & Eve be contained in what Jesus confirmed, and yet also/somehow be false? And when Jesus refers to the Law and the Prophets, we know precisely what was in what He was referring to. Unless, of course, one questions whether or not Jesus ever made such a statement. If NOT, it's ALL in doubt!
Phillip, where does the bible explicitly state that Adam and Eve were the FIRST people created?
I Corinthians 15-45 doesn't count because if read it in context it is about the comparison of natural VS spiritual.
If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 So also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. 46 However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural; then the spiritual. 47 The first man is from the earth, [n]earthy; the second man is from heaven.
Note that if we take the comment pf "the first man, Adam" as being a statement about Adam being the first person created, then we have to take the statement "The last Adam became a life-giving spirit" as stating that there was no other Adam after this "last Adam".
Don't get me wrong I believe that the OT certainly implies this BUT nowhere is it explicitly stated.

Philip, if you don't mind, this thread is for talking to Neo about his stupid belief that God doesn't love angels. It's not the forum to talk to Neo about his stupid belief in Evolution
Seriously? And you're still a moderator? What is wrong with you?!
Slander and misrepresentations. Good job rick

Mallz,
When you quoted me, you left out the emoticons that show I was joking.
While I don't always agree with some of Neo's views, neither he nor his views are stupid.
I have a lot of respect for Neo.

Disagreement, even strong disagreement among believers, doesn't mean disrespect. There are plenty of people I've disagreed with here, who I greatly respect. In fact, some of the members I've disagreed with the strongest, are my favorite members.
Strong words, and disagreement is fine. We here, tend to be very outspoken with beliefs we hold dear.

I think that you may have been the only one to take what Rick wrote seriously.

Absofreakinglutley !
If as believers we can't share what we believe, if we say what we mean, we will never mean what we say.
Disagreement between believers has been and always will happen in Our faith, look at the apostles.

That doesn't cut it guys. You can obstinately disagree with someone but to call their ideas stupid is slander. Maybe you forget the small amount of frequent posters here are by far not the only readers or those who engage. And as moderators (leaders of a Christian board) you have more of a responsibility to represent Christ. Joking is fine, taking stabs in fun, too. Derogatory words are just that, derogatory. And you make yourself look bad publicly and repulse those who are trying to come to Him. It was meant as a joke, cool. It doesn't read that way and still doesn't.

Fair enough.
Rick has addressed that it was in jest and Neo, I think, understood that.
If not, Neo should say something.
That said, Rick, here is your slap on the wrist.

That's ok, you old coot!
And while we're at it, even if I were serious(I wasn't), calling someone's beliefs "stupid" in writing, isn't slander. Slander is spoken. I think you meant to say libel.
So, in the future, when you get on your high horse and start judging somebody, make sure you are using the proper words. Otherwise,
your posts turn out to be stupid.
