I know we've seen a lot of NDE information, but this is a 2015 examination by the Atlantic and is very inclusive of all angles. It's a really nice compendium of discussions in here... so far. The first few paragraphs are unremarkable, but the following all are... a very good read.

That is not the samething Audie.
Those were illusions induced in an active brain.
NDE ( some not all I think) happen when there is NO brain activity at all.

NDE ( some not all I think) happen when there is NO brain activity at all.

Some but not all. No detected brain activity?

I wonder how you would define "dead".

The legal / medical definition has specific purposes.

You end up with "dead" but in a reversible state, and dead-dead, like, squashed possum on the highway dead.

In between there seem to be a lot of grey areas.

If you visit the site of Ask A Mortician, you'll see that the whole body takes about 2 days to die. The cells responsible for the growth of hair and nails, as well as other useless stuff, are the last to be taken by the Grim Reaper.

NDEs pose a peculiar problem to atheists, so don't expect them to ever accept "clinical death" as being as "real" as squashed-on-the-road death.

There has to be something left of the person to be able to tell the tale.
Otherwise we would never know.
Clinically dead as in Doctors agreeing they were dead.
Legally, medicaly.
Thats why its news.
