The angel of god

Post by Deborah »

I know Jesus was not the arch angel Micheal.
My question was the Angel of God Jesus ?
Please offer proof for and against according to scripure.
Church tradition tells us that when John, son of Zebadee and brother of James was an old man, his disciples would carry him to church in their arms.
He would simply say, “Little children, love one another”
After a time his disciples wearied at always hearing these same words and asked “Master why do you always say this?
He replied, “it is the Lords command, and if done, it is enough”

To prove the question is to prove your denial. Circular.

"Angel" can simply mean "messenger" in Hebrew. I think it plausible that the Angel of the Lord is Christ. Some things to note is that Jacob fought wrestled with a man who was identified as God (Genesis 32:24-30), but later on in Hosea we find out this man was an angel (or messenger):
  • 4 He struggled with the angel and overcame him;
he wept and begged for his favor.
    He found him at Bethel
    and talked with him there-

    5 the LORD God Almighty,
the LORD is his name of renown!
In Malachi 3:1 we also have:
  • "See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come," says the LORD Almighty."
I believe there are other examples to be found also. Researching on Google I'm sure would turn up some sites.

I found this passage
Exodus 23:20-22

20 "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. 21 Pay attention to him and listen to what he says. Do not rebel against him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since my Name is in him. 22 If you listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.

Firstly if this is only an angel or even a Arc Angel then how does he have the power not to forgive?

I'm not sure I understand. Don't we all have the power to forgive or not forgive?
