Why do Jews write God like G-d? Why do they call God Hashem?
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." (Psalm 19:1)

Jews write God like G-d because they believe saying or writing His name in that form is blasphemous, that God is too strong of a word.Mystical wrote:Why do Jews write God like G-d? Why do they call God Hashem?
I don't know the term Hashem, but I would say maybe they use that instead, not sure, sorryMystical wrote:Can they say God? Why Hashem?
The Hebrew word 'Ha Shem' simply means 'The Name' ('Ha' is a definite article, and 'Shem' means 'name'). It is a euphemism by which God can be referred to without using His personal name.Thinker wrote:I don't know the term Hashem, but I would say maybe they use that instead, not sure, sorryMystical wrote:Can they say God?
