Are people inevitably going to serve their purpose or is it up to the person whether to serve their purpose or not?

our purpose is to Glorify God and to fellowship with Him...of course we choose what we do, that is why God put the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden. Love that is without choice is not true love, God wanted us to Truly Love Him, that is why He gave us a free will. that is one reason why we have trials. but dont get trials mixed up with Temptation, they are two different things. but ultimatly we are to Glorify and Fellowship with Him, but we choose to do that...and when we do, we bring a smile to His face.

Not necessarily.

God's purpose has nothing whatsoever to do with our free will. (I actually had a pastor tell me this week that the birth of Christ hinged on Joseph's obedience.) The Bible disagrees.

Psalm 33:10-12
"The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect.
The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
The plans of His heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
The people He has chosen as His own inheritance."

Pharoah's life was "purpose-driven", and he brought glory to God.

Romans 9:17-18
"For the Scripture says to the Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens."

God's purpose depends on no one but God (See Psalm 115:3, Daniel 4:35, Isaiah 46:9-11, Ephesians 1:4-5, Ephesians 1:11)

The purpose?
Of God: ya... i think his purpose was to have som1.. that is us, our spirits, humans. HE did it out of grace love etc. Ya i think he did it for us but also 4 himself - coz he wants som1 to be with him have fellowshipo. But i think more for us... duno quite
And purpose of human? 2 enjoy gods feloowship in heaven if he chooses him. its so crucial god doesnt asku us whthere we want to live or not... but i think our purpose is to enjoy god and us with him in heaven...
and ya som ppl hav also special purpose to show gods mercy, power, will eg prophets etc

I think that God's purpose primarily in creating us is to demonstrate His love to us. God is love. Love is of no use if it is not demonstrated. His greatest demonstration of his love was when He sent his son to die for the sins of the world.

God is not selfish or egotistical. Yes He deserves glory and praise to His Holy name but never for selfish purposes...I firmly believe that we the worshippers derive much more from this then He does. He doesn't need anything. It all ties back to his love.

Well he doesnt need anything. Obvously if hes god... But hw still decided to create us and show us his will, power etc. But do we exist ONLY for his purpose or also for our own? If only for his then we could say we are of no use to ourselves etc which i dont believe is true.
And i thi k he created us for his joy and ours. Because althoght God doesnt need us as such he wanted to be with someone. And actually someone who has free will, is able to love him back (I think God is most unhappy when people simply reject his love and laugh at him because i think the worst thing is when yoy love someione and he doesnt)... And with someione who has also of course conscience and feelings. I belive its here where God's power is demonstrtaed most: create beings similar to himself, whcih have feelings, - ability to suffer and/or be extremely happy. Does God have feelings? I think he does (not mentioning Jesus when he was partly in human form because of course his suffering was immense).
So he wanted to be with us etc. That;s his purpiose probably..
