Evidence for God from Science

Hello all...I was interested in learning more about evolution, the big bang, creationism, ID, etc., and would like to know if anyone can recommend any books for someone just starting out. I'd like to first learn the basic concepts and then go into more detail from there. This one looked kind of cool, but there's more to it than that, I realize.

The above two books are totally different in approach (and probably worth reading both just for comparison rather than one only). Having read neither, I can say that the first book is written from a scientific perspective (mostly astronomical) (here are some reviews http://www.innovatia.com/software/paper ... wmegod.htm http://www.newcreationism.org/ShowMeGod.html http://www.fredheeren.com/ ). The second book is from the "mainstream science is bogus" school. So it appears that they are antipodal in approach.

Mathetes, what perspectives are you looking for? There are so many, from the purely scientific to the extremes of philosophy, and everything in between.

Something that will familiarize me with the concepts on both sides of the debate. I guess a sort of "stepping stone" that will let me get into the more intricate details. Also, any debates between creationists and evolutionists would be great...nothing like seeing these ideas in practice.

Then for a quick intro, check out these two websites http://www.trueorigin.org/ and http://www.talkorigins.org/. The neat thing is that they each critique sections at the other website. So it is real easy to read one and say, yes, that makes sense, then read the comments at the other and reach the opposite conclusion. Of course, unless you have a really open mind, you will just believe whichever site best represents your own preconceptions.
