Re: AIG Controversy Brewing
Although actually irrelevant to YEC arguments, it is interesting that main YEC proponents like Ham and Hovind get caught up in legalities surrounding their greed of money. Makes it look as though YEC is ultimately a good money spinner.Canuckster1127 wrote:I don't know how long this link will be good so you may want to take a look at it quickly.

After all, I do recall words of wisdom in the Word of God about distinguishing false teachers of God by the fruit they bear. (Matthew 7:15-20)

Yes. The Hovind story is remarkable in that his plea to the judge is to not put him in jail because his followers will pony up the money to keep him free so he can keep preaching. No remorse. No apology. In his situation, it doesn't mean the YEC position is tied to him personally, but there certainly is evidence there, that regardless of the truth of his YEC position, he as an individual worked within the community to benefit himself and even at the end, he sees himself as the cause, not the message.Kurieuo wrote:Although actually irrelevant to YEC arguments, it is interesting that main YEC proponents like Ham and Hovind get caught up in legalities surrounding their greed of money. Hamm's situation is different of course, and there has been no judgment as of yet so his protestations of his innocence may be true. He does seem to have moved the AIG organization away from its Australian founding organization and to have established himself more at the center of the movement than was the case earlier on. Many people have accepted his message that YEC and Scriptural authority are one and they same and so they give as if they are upholding the Church, Missions and the Word of God all at once.
Theocrasies within orgranizations are often proclaimed after a stong leader has changed his name to "theo".
Time will tell.
