Probably the best movie about the life of Christ ever made (superior to "The Passion of the Christ"), IMHO.

Never seen King of Kings. How could it possibly be better than "passion"?

Well, for one thing, it portrays the whole life of Jesus, instead of just the last hours before the Crucifixition.

For another, it portrays the Resurection, which "The Passion of the Christ" glossed over.

And, it shows Jesus performing some of His miracles instead of just showing Him having the hell literally beaten out of him.

Hmm. Sounds good. How accurate is it though?

Oh, I'm sure there are some polemicists who would object to parts of it, but the 'biggies' are straight from the Bible (Sermon on the Mount, Last Supper, Trail before Pilate).

Also, it doesn't have the anti-semetic undertone that the "Passion of the Christ" has. Nor, did the director (to the best of my knowledge) evr launch into an anti-semetic rant to the police.

"The Greatest Story Ever Told" is on next.....

I did start watching "King of Kings", but even the very beginning was not scripturally correct. For one, they had the wise men arriving while Jesus was still in the manger. According to the bible, they did not actually arrive until a good while later, when Mary and Joseph were back in their home already. If a movie is going to recreate something like this, they should at least TRY to be accurate about the facts.

Amazing how a person who denies the Trinity, engages in nitcking polemics about when the wise men saw the Christ Child child.

Make fun of me all you want, if it isn't scripturally sound, it's wrong!

Have you ever heard of something called "poetic license"

Not that there is any DIRECT Scriptural evidence that it took the wise men two years to find the Christ child.

"The King of Kings" was classic! My dad used to have all of these movies on during easter or Christmas when I was kid about 100 years ago. We can always find discrepancies, sometimes glaring ones, but they can still draw us to God...and as an added bonus even entertain us.

Actually I just started watching a new one called "The Gospel of John". So far I think it is pretty good.

I haven't seen that one.

I did see rather a good one on Jeramiah last Easter, though.

Never saw that one. They should make a movie compilation of all the prophets since the theme is pretty much the same:

God's people screw up, God punishes them by making their enemies enslave them, God's people repent, God forgives and restores His people, God punishes those that He made enslave His people.
