If they had a social gospel in the days of the prodigal son, somebody would have given him a bed and a sandwich and he never would have gone home.

Sigh....nothing more than HOusehold science. And who knows what that course really meant. It is sad to see that science was not really a part of education.

Different era, different values...some of which we've sadly dropped for "higher" education.

My guess is «Household Science» is what girls had to take when I was in High School, only it was called Home Economics. My favorite is Lady-like Deportment. How many young women would pass nowadays...especially with a pass mark set at 70%...?BavarianWheels wrote:Different era, different values...some of which we've sadly dropped for "higher" education.

Re: Report Card
Sweeping? I happened to take home eco when I was in HS...it was either spend a period with a bunch of guys making a bread box and/or a steel weight stand or spend a period with all the girls as the only guy...we never touched on methods of sweeping. We did all kinds of cooking and did touch on the basics of sewing. Slop production? Someone has had some issues with this...Fürstentum Liechtenstein wrote:My guess is «Household Science» is what girls had to take when I was in High School, only it was called Home Economics. Re: Report Card
Choosing between spending time with a bunch of guys making a bread box - in Woodworking Class - and spending time with a bunch of girls looking at the only guy in their BORING class...hmmm...to any adult man, the choice is obvious. To have made that choice in your teens speaks volumes of you. You are obviously an intelligent man!
