Friend in bad situation

A friend of mine is in a very bad situation, and he is very depressed and can't do anything to make things better. His dad had not had a job in a long time, so the family got into debt. Then the dad left recently. And he, being the oldest son, was finally able to get a job to help out, but it's not near enough. Their debt is building because of medical issues, and he can't get a second job because his current work schedule is not regular (being able to get a better job would help, of course). He, his mom and brothers almost got kicked out of the house they rent recently, so that may still happen. This poor young man is in this situation, none of it his own making, just trying to do the best he can (he's hardly even eaten this week). But it isn't good enough, and I think despondent is a good word to use for how he feels. Please pray for him and his family. Thanks. What is he doing? Trying to win a lottery or start a lucrative business I hope!
