New, and HAPPY!

Can't believe my luck in finding this message board, and site today. Well, I am sure it was not luck, lol. It was actually in answer to very recent prayer. I NEEDED to find this place, somewhere I could have fellowship and find debate and ANSWERS. Somewhere worthwhile to spend my internet time.

I'm homeschooling mom to one daughter, who is 14; divorced (my husband left us due to an affair), and a brand-new paramedic (since Jan., although I have been an EMT for 3 years; had to go back to school and find a means of support after he left. What was meant for evil, God used for good).

We are blessed to live in an area with a large Christian homeschooling community.

I love history, and martial arts (have been training in taekwondo for going on 9 years now). My daughter is a great kid, who is active in children's theater, and loves anime and manga.

I started out as a teenager training Okinawan Shorin Ryu karate under a fifth degree black belt before taking up Korean Taekwondo by a third degree black belt who knew General Choi and finally Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at the Ralph Gracie Jiu-Jitsu center under a Pan American world champion. Due to severe arthritis, I can't even lift 20 lbs today and can never train again. Welcome to the forum.

Thanks to everybody! This seems to be the place for me. I noticed the anime themed sigs right off (Bleach, I can place, the others, not sure of). For the past two years I have taken my daughter to Anime Weekend Atlanta and we have the best time. She is the otaku in the family, although I do have some favorites of my own.

Ageofknowledge, your training far exceeds my own! I am sorry to hear you are dealing with arthritis.
I am only a 1st degree black belt. At our school, we also learn a bit of Gracie jujitsu, along with Tkd. I can feel myself getting slower (now that I am 40 yrs old), but my endurance is still pretty good, especially during sparring. This whole forum seems to be very active, which I love, and I feel welcomed warmly! So much to read. Thanks again, R

ETA: I found this site this morning, after a period of doubt creeping into my mind. Spending too much time on sites that were hostile to Christians took its toll. I had also been looking for a new forum to hang on, after the demise of my very favorite, Hippie Christian Message Board.

Finding the site, and spending a couple of hours reading articles, made me ecstatic, and put me back on track. After my ex left us, I was devastated, but turned to God and my relationship with him flourished. That period taught me so much, I can't even go into it all in a short post. It's been a 5 year journey. However, lately, my prayer muscles have atrophied. I feel like I am starting at the beginning again. Backslid. I NEED to surround myself with the Word, and people who are on the same path as me.

I found this site after I was going through doubt as well. It was in high school, and they were teaching evolution. This site was a safe haven and a fountain of knowledge for me. After a few years of not being here, I came back when I was struggling. This is when I joined the board and there are a lot of great people here. You have already meet a few.

:P You both got me beat, I have been concetraiting on my sword practice more than hand to hand. Though where I live now there aren't any good places to go and train... I hope to get to a good place some day...

Fascinating. I look forward to hearing more about your spiritual experiences and how you finally learned to cope with life when things didn't go as planned. Often people retreat into sin and addiction. I once did. But an authentic Christian who has fallen into that will finally mature and push out of that and repent. God loves us and forgives. So we press on to the finish. Bruised but not beaten. Peace.
