Resources Requested for Thesis

Well well well... it's finally time to write my thesis to graduate with a Master's of Divinity from Nations University. Those of you whom have been around for awhile have seen me progress from a complete basket case with some learning to a basket case that holds together a lot better than in the past with a much better grasp of most things intellectually speaking. Plus I'm receiving medical care now. So all-in-all many of your prayers were answered. I'm still a sick unemployed basket case with serious concerns; however, just to keep it real. But I'm not in the red zone all the time anymore.

Anyways, I've decided to write my 30+ page thesis on the influence (and lack of it) of paganism on the church with a special emphasis on the resurgence of paganism in our times and appropriate ways to address it. The paper will span three periods: the apostolic period and the early church, the medieval period through the renaissance, and the modern period through today.

I have a few resources here but could use more. I welcome any good resource suggestions on this subject.

And don't stop praying for me. I still feel the pangs sometimes of past resentments and failures; current stinking thinking, financial worries, and a couple of bad habits; and there's probably a few other things I need to overcome I'm not aware of that would surface if I began to ask others what my blind spots are. But I don't have dreams of a cheap motel room, a .45, and a bottle of 20 year old Scotch anymore... lol. Now it's more like wishing I could win the lottery... haha. Merry Christmas and peace all around.

Prayers offered up Age. And good luck with your thesis. Do you plan on sharing it?

I share all my stuff with you guys. What do you think? I'm going to use it as the basis for a book and make a million? Then what would I have to complain about? No that would never do. Of course I'll share it. Lol.. :D

See if you can find a resource for me out of your library Bylbos. I'm looking for resources.

The Babylon Connection by Ralph Woodrow should be a good start.

Age - are you going to be touching on paganism pre-christ? Perhaps mentioning the contemporaries of the Hebrews, and addressing parts of the documentary hypothesis?

Are you defining paganism in terms of the Abrahamic faiths or in terms or polytheism?

Only briefly as a lead in. Probably no more than three paragraphs of narrative.

I'll be addressing paganism within the context of what existed at the time of Christ through to today's neo-pagan revival and it's impact (and lack of impact) on the church.

Obviously 30 or so double spaced pages only allows a fly by presentation but I hope to at least bring together a good introductory summary that allows interested readers with little familiarity on the subject to understand a brief condensed history of what is shaping up to be an important topic for our times.

Thank you for the resource Byblos!

Another good resource:

The Gospel and the Greeks: Did the New Testament Borrow from Pagan Thought? (The Student Library) (Paperback)
