a really bizzare thing happened to me

im a rapper in the underground field. my sound is akin to what is known as horrorcore. i use my music to spread the gospel to the preominantly atheist, satanic, agnostic and pagan group of people who support artists like insane clown posse, tech n9ne, kottonmouth kings and the horrorcore scene i once was apart of which includes acts like scum, sicktanick and mental ward. i was into all this, i was one of them. then i got delivered and saved but i still pursure my music in this scene with a new direction of course.

anyways, im literally the only one in my field. maybe one other guy who has no active part in the genres i listed above could be counted as close to what i do.

i had an internet blogtalk radio interview recently with a kid whos radio show is directed to the underground scene. i wasnt looking forward to it. its me answering the same questions over and over and over. or i hear the same compliment over and over and over. the guys who hosted this show have all seen my live show which im told is unlike anything they have ever seen. compliments are great but im getting tired of them. dont get me wrong i love to share the gospel with everyone! i was just brutally tired from a total lack of sleep and already did one interview prior to that day.

the interviews scheduled for 2 hours is going along, the same standard fare of artists who want to collab with me and are willing to tone down or do whatever type of song i want. the same kids asking what causes me to get on stage and do what i do. then we get a caller....as far as i know there is hardly anyone listening to the show so i figured its just one of the hosts friends calling in to say whats up.

its a man. a man who reveals over the course of the interview he is a 50-something year old black man from new york who misdialed a number apparently and heard rap music playing. he said he stayed on the line and then heard me talking about my faith. from there on out, we had an hour and a half apologetical discussion about the christian faith. it would have been a debate but the gentlemen, who was always very nice and never got hostile, kept leaping from subject to subject. he took things out of context and never answered my rebuttals. id give him an answer and he kept saying "thats my point" and then would tie it to something out of context and unbiblical.

one of the hosts chimed in and said he apparently watched the book of eli too much. i havent seen it so the humor was lost on me.

anyways, throughout the discussion i started to hear more and more of his philosophy and i could just tell his lines were coached. his points were everything ive heard before. his points were always based in selective one liners and general misconceptions including but not limited too:

the church is a ponzi scheme, flawed men wrote the bible, how do we know, social engineering, this that and the other. i at one point got frustrated when i was rebutting and he interrupted me so i forced an interruption on him which doesnt seem like the nice thing to do.

towards the end of the discussion this was my favorite moment. i asked if he had studied any apologetics. he said something to the effect of its all a barrel of nuts or something bizzare like that. basically saying he doesnt trust apologetics. i had to bring up the fact that our entire discussion we just had was apologetics. he quickly reduced it to the idea that he doesnt know more than me, i dont know more than him. but his whole point was to seek and find the truth. "lets have a real honest discussion and try to find the truth" is what he kept saying. but he refused to hear anything i had to say. when i gave him the website carm.org he laughed at the name like something i said was wrong.

it was really hard talking with the guy but i enjoyed it wholeheartedly. at one point he said okay lets get off topic here, i just wanna say (and he was being nice about it) we should take all these rappers and put them on a cruise ship and sink it in the ocean. "Im a rapper!" I exclaimed. I said "i just do it to spread the gospel now" and he said "thats cool, im all for that.".

our whole discussion was him trying to refute christianity, then he said i should be sunk to the bottom of the sea only later to follow up with "i support what you do". then of course his whole jive was to find reason for the christian faith and admits to having no interest in actually finding reason in the christian faith. it was something else....

i thought it was Gods idea to have that guy call in. the only time a christian rapper from ky is going to be on a juggalo radio show that gets picked up by a misdial from a man in new york with all that on his heart was definitely a "plan" on Gods part. the host said he was about to cut him off but said he wanted it to keep going for my sake. then said it was honestly the best show hes ever done.

i managed to download it on mp3. its a keeper. im praying for that man and id like to ask if you all would do the same.

thanks for reading, just thought id share a strange story. :D

Wow, nice story. I think you are right, there were some seeds that needed some planting.

You might check with this place. I used to be involved with the punk scene back in the late 80s, but I'm totally out of touch now.
