Probably an easy question to answer...

Post by Gabrielman »

Okay I have been thinking about this for a while and I was wondering if someone could tell me, when we speak of God's Holy Spirit is it Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost? I was not sure if it was important either way, but could someone please tell me if it matters, and if so which one is right to use and if God cares which one, I am just wanting to know, thanks in advance!!!! :D
Once I was trapped in a perpetual night, without even a star to light the sky. Now I stand in the glory of the Son, and not even a faint shadow of darkness remains.

I do not think it realy matters as you can translate the Greek word in English as either Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost...

Holy Ghost is how it was translated in the King James Bible. Holy Spirit is how many translate it today.

The greek word is pneuma. It is the same word that is used to describe "wind" or "breath". The word "ghost" when it was originally used in the 1611 KJV didn't have quite the same overtones that "ghost" today does. I think Holy Spirit is the better term, but it doesn't really matter all that much.
