Question about rewards in heaven...

Hey everyone, this has been an area of interest of mine for quite some time. What I was basically wanting to know is what gets us these rewards? From what I've always been told by local church pastors is that our reward will be based on either by how many people we lead to Christ, and or how morally pure we are in this life. Do any of you know if this is correct? Is it by this or is it by how we endure suffering and still hold onto the faith? Also, I wonder what these rewards will consist of? Is it more closeness/time with God in heaven or is it something material like gold or is it like a high position? Let me know what your thoughts are on this topic. Anyway thank you all for your time and God bless.

Christ is the only reward I need. There is mention of rewards in the realm of eschatology and I accept that they will be there and I prefer not to try to strip away whatever mystery there is there. However God chooses to distribute any such rewards is of little concern to me. Even if they are tied in some manner to performance apart from salvation I will still receive them or rejoice for others who receive them and see it all as grace. In Christ are all the treasures of this age or the age to come. He is fully sufficient for me and I will rest in His grace and person now and in the ages to come.

I'm not attempting to diminish your question and I'm sorry if this is not a satisfactory answer. I've given up trying to sort things out like this or to establish a map or a scoreboard. It just flies in the face of how I believe God wants us to live and walk with him today. Sufficient for today are the trials and the blessings. Christ holds the future anyway.

blessings,

bart
