One of my favorite non-religious quotes is from John Paul Jones, founder of the U.S. Navy: "Give me a fast ship for I intend to go in harm's way". I actually have that quote on a Navy Seals T-shirt. It is a paraphrase though, the actual quote is ""I wish to have no connection with any ship that does not sail fast for I intend to go in harm's way" but that's a little long to put on the back of a T-shirt.
