Construction of Third Jewish Temple begins

A very interesting topic... Why? Because the Jews have already begun the construction of the Third temple in Jericho. The first part will be the altar. This temple will be 1 to 1 the scale of the upcoming 3rd temple. It will be very important step in preparing the Jewish priests for their priesthood.

The stones for the Altar were gathered from below the water line of the Dead Sea, wrapped in plastic and transported to Mitzpe Yericho, located some 15 miles east of Jerusalem, as can be seen in this report. According to Yehudah Glick, the Temple Institute director, the altar will be kept small, so that eventually it could be transported to the Temple Mount. According to him this is the “ideal time to begin to build the Temple.” It will be interesting to see when that happens."

Biblical End Time Prophecies coming to LIFE - Preparing for Service in the Rebuilt Temple
Jews in the town of Mitzpe Yericho are taking practical steps to prepare for the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem, by preparing descendents of Cohanim (priests) and Levites for service. At the Mitzpe Yericho school, Temple priest hopefuls learn exactly how to conduct the daily Temple service and offer the required sacrifices.

"Today is really a historical event for the Jewish people,” organizer Levi Chazan said as another part of the school was completed. “It is the beginning of the work for the Third Temple.”

The school will include an exact replica of the Temple. The latest addition to the replica was the area in which priests offered wine and water libations. The water offering was traditionally given on the Sukkot holiday, which was celebrated last week.

Festivities accompanied the completion of another step in the school's construction. Among those present was Baruch Marzel, long-time Land of Israel activist and parliamentary aide to MK Michael Ben-Ari. The timing of the work on the school is particularly appropriate due to recent Muslim riots against Jewish visits to the Temple Mount, Marzel said.

Great stuff Gman! Thanks for sharing. I've been wondering about that very thing. I heard (long before the construction began) by them building the third temple is a very good indication of end times prophecy being fulfilled. So hearing about this really gets me excited (and slightly scared too). But anyway, thanks again.

I understand that the Jews expect animal sacrifices for atonement of sins to resume when the third Temple is built.

How will that affect Jesus' one time sacrifice?

Thanks.

They won't affect Jesus' sacrifice. Animal sacrifices never took away sins. So, most likely, animal sacrifices in the millennium will be memorial in nature.

As the Lord's Supper is a memorial of Christ's death, to the church today, animal sacrifices will be a memorial in the millennium.

OK, I agree.

I've been reviewing the subject of the Third Temple noted in the Book of Ezekiel and this is what I discovered:

Jews say that since there is no temple in which to sacrifice animals, that prayer, repentance and charity were superior to sacrifices and were preferred by God.

If so, then going back to animal sacrifices would be a step backwards.

Rabbi Dr. S. Fisch in one of the most important commentaries on Ezekiel said that the closing chapters of Ezekiel present almost insuperable discrepancies, contradictions that only Elijah could tell us what they mean and that if it had not been for Rabbi Chanina ben Hezekiah, the Book of Ezekiel would have been excluded from the Jewish canon.

Rambam: “The future structure to be built, even though it is written of in Ezekiel, is not interpreted or explained.” Hilkhot Bet HaBehira, 1.4 – “the writings of Ezekiel pertaining to the future Sanctuary are beyond our clear and detailed understanding.”

Maimonides said that Ezekiel’s Temple vision could not be interpreted from our present, limited vantage point.

Some believe Ezekiel was speaking of the second temple.

Some Jewish traditions say that all sacrifices will cease except those of Thanksgiving.

Many Jewish scholars such as Rabbi Kook believe that animal sacrifices will not be reinstated in messianic times, even with the reestablishment of the Temple. They believe that at that time human conduct will have advanced to such high standards that there will no longer be need for animal sacrifices to atone for sins. Only nonanimal sacrifices (grains, for example) to express gratitude to God would remain. There is a Midrash (rabbinic teaching based on Jewish values and tradition) that states: "In the Messianic era, all offerings will cease except the thanksgiving offering, which will continue forever. This seems consistent with the belief of Rabbi Kook and others, based on the prophecy of Isaiah (11:6-9), that people and animals will be vegetarian in that time, and "none shall hurt nor destroy in all My Holy mountain."

Some Jews believe that Ezekiel regarding the third temple is so confusing that only Elijah can explain it when he returns.

I wonder if the third Temple has already been built, as Jesus as the Temple.

SACRIFICE: The act of offering to a deity for the purpose of doing homage, winning favor, or securing pardon; that which is offered or consecrated. The late generic term for "sacrifice" in Hebrew is , the verb being , used in connection with all kinds of sacrifices ... http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/artic ... -sacrifice

I think this is right (?) ... and not this ...

but "securing pardon" may cut it ... doesn't seems as powerful as atonement for sins ... and really, in terms of sacrifice, atonement has been taken care of forever, second coming (end times) included for all human beings by Christ's death, . God-Christ, as Jew, knowing the comparison, IMO would not allow the alignment of His death for sins of all with the same effect on our sins by the death of an animal.

and I think memorial is the wrong word... how does memorial fit there ?

The temple Ezekiel spoke of is actually the fourth temple.

The first temple was the one built by Solomon.

The second was the one begun by those who returned from the Babylonian captivity and added to by Herod. This was the temple that existed when Jesus was on earth.

The third temple will be built during or before the Tribulation and the Jews will resume the sacrifices commanded by Moses. The Antichrist will defile this temple by entering it and demanding to be worshipped.

The temple Ezekiel saw will be built after Christ returns and begins his thousand year reign.

It isn't surprising that Jewish scholars can find no interpretation for what Ezekiel saw. When Jesus came he fulfilled many Biblical prophesies. When the Jews rejected his claim to be the Messiah they had to find different interpretations for these prophecies and this led to there being unable to understand prophecy at all.

I hadn't considered that Ezekiel was describing a fourth Temple.

What do you think the fourth Temple will be like?

Thanks.
