I am doing "Intro to bible" in my Bachelor of Arts as one of my subjects and i cringe that the Hypothesis theory is held quite as high even in my Australian Catholic University where they say you are not reading it correctly because you give it the super natural context which in all honest it is definitely implied in the scriptures >.> ..sort of regret taking up this but then ill change next semester :P i gets a chance to learn more about the enemy in the mean time ;) by the end of today's Lecture the professoress(?) was on the topic of Genesis and its fantastic storytelling.. she made a couple of comments on Evolution and evidently dismissed Intelligent Design as not scientific. Come on... even in this subject darwinism gets praised and Intelligent design doesnt get a fair shot at being represented as at least a viable option..

Would it hurt to ask the Professor if she is really Catholic or not during class?

I would but that's me and I do not want to get you into trouble...

HAhahah actually i was wondering the same thing! Is she is a devout catholic christian? What she did say is that she does go to mass and one thing that i realised but im not sure if its everywhere in Australia is that even the priests here are taught the Hypothesis theory when they are in seminary ...

Hahaha :P i plan to next semester..

I still don't understand wholly why priests are learning it .. i mean i get it from the historical point of view being critical with the text and stuff but it leaves you with hardly any spiritual understanding :S which is the most important part for a priest im guessing.

Here's a hint. I used to give credence to alternatives from Moses. You know why? Because deep down in my sensitive little soul I saw it as a more 'realistic' explanation for the Pentateuch...I realise now that this theory is the result of a concerted effort by liberal scholars to, basically, find any other alternative than the orthodox.

Yeah that is what i've understood from it too...the professor goes " this is just a theory of course, it works for some cases but it doesn't for others" and then he says " It's infantile to think that this -blah blah- happen! This is like the fundementals who take the bible literally"

If your professor is teaching the theory as official Catholic doctrine he/she needs to stop (unless of course I didn't receive the memo ). The fact that it is taught to priests means nothing, they're taught about many different theories, it doesn't mean they're adopting them.
