The Book of Enoch

Hi everyone. So, I've recently taken an interest in the Book of Enoch. I barely read it so far, just the first few chapters, but today, while surfing the web, I found that the book had a few verses that contradicted the Bible. For example:

Enoch 40:9
"...and whose words I have heard and written down?’ And he said to me: ‘This first is Michael, the merciful and long-suffering: and the second, who is set over all the diseases and all the wounds of the children of men, is Raphael: and the third, who is set over all the powers, is Gabriel: and the fourth, who is set over the repentance unto hope of those who inherit eternal life, is named Phanuel." Obviously, this contradicts salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

chapter 69:8-12
"...And the fourth was named Penemue: he taught the
9 children of men the bitter and the sweet, and he taught them all the secrets of their wisdom. And he instructed mankind in writing with ink and paper, and thereby many sinned from eternity to
10 eternity and until this day. For men were not created for such a purpose, to give confirmation
11 to their good faith with pen and ink. For men were created exactly like the angels, to the intent that they should continue pure and righteous, and death, which destroys everything, could not have taken hold of them, but through this their knowledge they are perishing, and through this power
12 it is consuming me." The knowledge of good and evil was taught by a demon, writing is evil, men were created like the angels.

Now, obviously I can't say I'm too surprised by this, considering that this is most probably the reason why it was banned from being included in the Bible, but does that mean that the entire book is untrue? Jude quoted from the Book of Enoch: Jude 1:14 . He wouldn't quote something that was untrue, right? The Book of Enoch isn't the only book that speaks of the Nephilim: Genesis 6:4 . So does this mean that some of it is true and some of it is false? Should we read it with caution, stay away from it, or am I just crazy?

what jude was quoting was a popular story of the day, he wasn't directly quoting the book of enoch. the niv study bible has some nice commentary on this issue, think u should read it. Plus some of it may be true, but not all. Thats a big problem, a lot of early jewish material is filled with myths that are totally against the bible as well.

Yes.. The Book of Enoch is a fascinating book. I own two copies of it.. Actually a potion of it could be related to the end times.

Although I think it possess some truth, I would question how far we should take it as ultimate truth..

Thanks for the replies! So why does the book contain so many contradictions? Did the original books contain contradictions from the start or were they corrupted over time?
