I always think of god as a busy bee. Ever since creation he has been creating and destroying.
And think of this. Many of our fuels come from decayed plants from that time period. God probably knew this and delayed our creation to allow the earth to mature and grow. This along with climate change that gives us a much more mild climate really probably did end up helping us.
God has a reason for everything right?

Did he plan for easy oil to run out in the U.S in the 70's and cause the western world to descend on the middle east like the plague?

It's always been there Geologists aren't fools. =)
But the higher cost of oil in the market makes extraction profitable.
In the 70's the cost of oil per barrel was around $20 in todays dollars.
As of the writing of this post Brent is at 90.11
and WTI is at 111.89

1) God wanted to
2) God enjoys creating
3) It is in His plan for creation (building genes, swapping genes, building new organisms)
4) Even He thinks they are cool (I mean He also created the Giraffe, the okapi, and the blue footed booby, He has a sense of humor and cool)
5) it did provide fuel and, yes, figures in His plan for the middle east

God destroyed the dinosaurs?
This is news to me, when did this happen?
Here I though that they went extinct because of the meteor theory.
