Hey everyone, I recently came accross this popular video of an octopus emerging from the ocean and walking around rocks and sea plants for almost a full minute. Here is the link

Now my main and obvious concern here is, well, is this evolution (darwinian macro evolution) right before our eyes? Aren't these animals in the process of evolving or at least, trying to evolve into land animals?


For quite sometime I thought fish could not survive out of the water very long. Does this seem to go against that idea along with validating darwinian evolution? Let me know your thoughts on this. This kinda has me nervous. Thanks.

In other news. I saw some humans swimming in the ocean.

Trying to evolve? There are already many animals who live a dual enviro existence. Last I checked, most think crocs and gators to have done so for millions of years. Seals. Turtles. Frogs.

Cubeus, I believe this octopus IS trying to evolve into a land animal. The reason why I believe that, is because my neighbor Bill, used to be an octopus. He told me his story, about how every day,When he was an octopus, he saw the kids playing on the beach. He longed to be just like those kids. So every day, he started walking up on the beach. Then one day, he evolved into a baby human. One of the beach goers took him home, and named him Bill.
So, yes cubeus, macro evolution does happen right before our eyes, as you suggested. It's quite amazing, actually. My cat always puts his paw in the fish bowl to try to play with the fish. After a few weeks of this, my cat started growing gills. He even has a dorsal fin starting to grow out of his back.

Let me know your thoughts on this. This kinda has me nervous. Thanks.

The process can also go the other way. You must have heard of mermaids.

That's nothing - during the summer months, I frequently come across divers with fins underwater. The idea that adaptation may cause humans to grow such body parts seems plausible, especially since we know that large amounts of plastic and rubber litter thrown in the sea on a regular basis, provides the material for such.

Well jlay I am developing gills......

They did it on purpose, sea animals left their home with a reason. The turtle for instance, they lay eggs on the shoreline and let it stay there until it was hatched. This kind of occurrence can be called evolution right? ^^

I still wonder what persuaded that octopus to take an evening stroll on the beach.... Pretty odd

Wouldn't that be neat! Humans evolving into amphibious mammals then back into water full time. It sure would solve a whole lot of current social problems like overcrowding and food shortage.
