What is the purpose of marriage on earth?

Post by Frogsterking »

So based on what I understand about Heaven from the Bible there is no marriage in Heaven except to Jesus. So I'm wondering what the point of romantic love and marriage on earth is if it's not going to mean anything in Heaven?

Thanks,
Frog

What is the point of being united to a woman if a man, or to a man if a woman? What is the point of having children and raising a family?

Do you really think all the shaping and refinement we go through in our physical lives here will mean nothing hereafter? What better way to challenge our character, increase our patience and learn about self-sacrifice then striving through married and having kids. ;)

Here's a wonderful video out by that same young man who did that controversial video about religion and Jesus:

I think it touches upon it perfectly. A good spouse can actually make us more holy and thus, closer to God.
To sustain the belief that there is no God, atheism has to demonstrate infinite knowledge, which is tantamount to saying, “I have infinite knowledge that there is no being in existence with infinite knowledge".

The primary benefit of marriage is raising children. Another benefit is spiritual maturity. A healthy marriage is two imperfect people sanding off the rough edges of one another.

Marriage is the basis of the family. The family is the basis of society. The society is the basis of government. Thus, where marriage is undermined, the family, society, and government are all undermined. Where family, society, and government are undermined, peace and justice of any kind fails at every level. Violence and tyranny of every sort then thrives at every level.

And that, brothers and sisters, is the kind of foolishness you get people who insist on denying biblical theism. A good illustration of any as the length people will go to avoid acknowledging basic truths.

Frog, here is an overview :

1. It is for two people to glorify God thru their marriage .
2. It is to offer two people , male and female, an environment of complete disclosure, trust, honesty, intimacy for life under a strong commitment to one another.
3. It is the best environment for bringing children into the world and raising them .
4. It is ordained of God and is considered holy and sacred in his eyes...and so it should be in ours.
5. It is an act of showing total love as expressed in commitment to be with the other in a lifelong partnership.
6. It is the safest environment for two people to get their sexual nature satisfied thru physical intimacy.
7. It is the backbone of any Society.
8. It represents the relationship of the Godhead , being one union.

Cohabitation offers many pitfalls to individuals and society and is an affront to God.
