How can we use our materialistic goods to serve God ?

Ive been giving thought to this as of late and have concluded that we can and should look for ways to give glory to God thru the things we own , in a public setting preferably . It requires some thinking outside the box in order to come up with definitive ways to accomplish this ,but I believe its possible . Im a big fan of classic cars from the 1960-1970's and attend a fair amount of local shows where these georgeous cars are lined up for public display and public judging. Ive found some have placed Christian tracts and booklets in a little basket which occupies a small space on the windshield wiper cowl or on the front fender . Im going to start doing this with my classic car too.

Im just wondering other ways which we as Christians can use our material goods to point others to God and his greatness ??? If you have an example in your own life, perhaps youd share it with the Group .

I believe God has allowed me to have such a car to enjoy so ill keep it ; but I believe its possible to use much of what we have for Gods glory.

Tell me, does it have manual transmission? How fast does it go? What about fuel consumption?

Its got a 4 speed manual trans., 468 cid (7.7 litre) motor with all high performance internals . If i go easy on the gas pedal, i can squeeze 11 mpg out of it around town . Ive never pushed the car to its top speed limit, but id say it would go at least 160 mph before red-lining ; its extremely fast on the lower end and set up for maximum low end torque. Torque is at 600 ft. lbs. @ 4400 rpms .

Thanks for the info, really impressive (it took me quite some time to translate mpg into l/100km ). Personally I'm very fond of 4-speed manuals, you don't get to change gears too often, and they let you stretch them properly.

It is next to impossible to get good traction with the 255x60R15 's but if you hammer it going at least 40 mph in 4th gear, it will not break loose . It will break loose if youre in 3rd or 2nd gear going 35 mph. Dont have any quarter mile info . The Edelbrock dyno chart has it at 540 h.p. so id imagine 11 seconds with slicks or drag radials on the back. The tires that are on there now act as a safety valve which is a good thing since im at 150 h.p. over how it came from the factory ...and still on the factory rearend and gearbox. I seldom get on it real hard as ive put much money and time into it , so it gets babied .

I think Paul hit on this a little bit through several different verses, but I don't think that we are supposed to live in tiny houses with one light bulb and no posessions. I think that God enjoys giving us "stuff", but he wants us to use them appropriately. By that I mean he wants us to look through the thing he gave us and see him smiling on the other side. When we put the thing in between us and another person, or God, we've gone to far. I also think most things can be used in service to the kingdom too. For example, find a kid who is really interested in the cars, but can't afford them obviously, and start teaching him what you know. It might give him a hobby that will keep him off the street, or he might realize he'd make a really good auto mechanic. Jesus talked about giving a child a cup of water in his name. Wouldn't the spirit behind that verse have the same meaning if you're showing the kid kindness some other way?
