1 Ti 1:3-4 means:
Strive for a pure heart, not for stories conducive to endless & fruitless debate which only serve evil purposes. Such debate would include:
-YEC/OEC fruitless debate,
-is Saturday or Sunday the correct day of worship? fruitless debate,
-the Purgatory fruitless debate,
...I could go on and on.

If they had a social gospel in the days of the prodigal son, somebody would have given him a bed and a sandwich and he never would have gone home.

But does it also mean not to read to much into biblical genealogy would be my big question? And on the creation side, does it also ,mean to avoid the creation v evolution debate?

The genealogies in the Bible are accurate since they are God's inspired Word. Debates about genealogies with non-believers are always pointless. Creation vs evolution debates are best reserved for cocktail party smalltalk, even among Christians.Murray wrote: But does it also mean not to read to much into biblical genealogy would be my big question? First step is WHO wrote 1Timothy and to WHOM it was written and under what conditions and for WHAT purpose.Murray wrote:"nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work--which is by faith."

Never, ever try to adapt a modern discussion to something written close to 2000 years ago.
When interpreting the passages of any book or letter in the Bible, we really must take into account why and to whom it was written ( and by whom of course).

Why does one need to choose one day over another? Why must one choose only one day of the week to worship God?BavarianWheels wrote:If false worship exists, and God's handwriting is holy, righteous and true...then this debate is of great importance.Furstentum Liechtenstein wrote:1 Ti 1:3-4 means:

Romans 14:5-6 5One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God
John 5:24

Sorry to disagree, FL. Here's a good article on why we can't rely on biblical genealogies to set an age for mankind:Furstentum Liechtenstein wrote:The genealogies in the Bible are accurate since they are God's inspired Word. God didn't write ANYTHING that WE HAVE with Us today.BavarianWheels wrote:If false worship exists, and God's handwriting is holy, righteous and true...then this debate is of great importance.Furstentum Liechtenstein wrote:1 Ti 1:3-4 means:

What we do have is the writings of inspired men that have been passed down to us to this day.
We should always be careful when we decide to call something "false worship", certainly if we are to take the WHOLE of the OT Law then much that we do and don't do can be viewed as "false worship" and even going against the Law given to the Hebrews by God via Moses and the Levitical priests.
If one is going to "pick and choose" which parts of the OT law is valid or not, then one must be open to OTHERS doing that also.

Re: 1 timothy 1:4
The bible doesn't say specifically, does it? There are a few theories on why:Why did God reject Cain's sacrifice?BavarianWheels wrote:If all worship, if done "to the Lord", is acceptable, why was Cain's basket of fruit not accepted?RickD wrote:Actually, I didn't see how your question answers mine. The reason why I didn't understand how your question answered mine, was because I wasn't talking about how God is worshiped. I was talking about why one person worships on one specific day, when another worships God everyday. And, each has made up in his own mind.
