Debate I had with a Gnostic

Tonight I had a live debate with a Gnostic (sort of a Gnostic-lite) and an internet-radio program. Here's the link if you are interested:

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/messiahcom ... -talk-show

The interview was cut off due to time restrictions (I was in mid-sentence when the connection got cut off!), but we're going to have part two of the debate tomorrow (5/25) at 1pm EST. The link to part two is:

You can listen live or afterwards at the same link if you are so inclined.

Jac thank you for sharing this.

Is there a transcript available? being not a native english speaker, it becomes easier for me to listen with a transcript.

Thanks

There is not, but I wouldn't mind trying one up. It would take a minute, of course, but I don't see why I couldn't do it middle of next week.

I'm listening to the first part right now...you are talking about faith and Jesus and meditation...:)

I have no trouble listening to you, actually its the other guy is hard to understand, his sound quality is poor.

Professor Morrison, I listened to a quick few minutes, and it sounded like the other guy was speaking with a mouthful of marbles. Is the whole podcast like that?

Unfortunately, yes. He has a speech and hearing impediment, so he has a think accent. I got used to it pretty quickly, though.

Ok, I've listened to about the first 23 minutes, and I believe he suffers from a "reality" impediment. Professor Morrison, you are doing a great job explaining your points so far. But I have to ask you how difficult it was for you to keep from busting a gut laughing at some of his answers. I'd love to have seen the look on your face during some of his responses.

Now back to the podcast...

Are you Proffesor? Not B.A., M.A.? Then you need to update your blog. ;)

I was too busy straining to understand what he was saying . . . if I'd burst out into laughter, I would have lost him for sure! Seriously, though, the sad part is that there are a lot of people who have very similar beliefs to that. I'm sure we've all met them -- I have. A lot. I've done a lot of ministry with gnostic/post-modern/eastern-influenced "Christians." So, for me, while his arguments were about as vapid as "arguments" can be, they pointed all the same to a very real cancer infesting our churches (not to be overly dramatic, or anything ;)).

Associate professor, actually. I don't know about Europe, but here'n 'merica, all you gotsta have to be a prof is eighteen accredited hours of master's level work in the subject you're teaching. Since I'm about to complete my second master's, I'm very well above that threshold.

I expect I'll go back for a PhD sooner rather than later, but my wife has forbidden me from pursuing any further education for a little bit. She says she's tired of me being in school. Something about missing me, which is just odd, because I didn't know that wives missed their husbands. I was always under the impression that they liked it when we were gone, but I gave up trying to figure out women years ago. That is a subject I definitely am not qualified to teach.
