Can anyone here but me see the hypocrisy of this statement? Someone who does not know me...is judging me..with a quick, cut and paste, and not even one sentence with scripture or anything to back it up. That's all it is here. Falsely Judge, Accuse, critique, condescend.... classic hypocrisy
No, JC, no one is judging you, but I am pointing out your inflammatory words and attitude.
It's sad that you see the world through the lens of your own issues with guilt, and self condemnation, and huge lack of trust in God's judgment....which explains your unnecessary, delusional defensive overreaction responses to a legitimate disagreement with a sham of a story.
So, you're upset that someone is judging YOU, that doesn't know you, but then YOU - who don't know ME, at all - respond by asserting that I have issues with "guilt, self condemnation, a huge lack of trust in God's judgment" and that I am "delusional." Hmmm, that's not a bit hypocritical? You see, this is exactly the kind of words of yours I was suggesting you dial back. Who would listen to someone demonizing them in such a way?
There are plenty of right wing states that are guilty of all these things....how much innocent blood has been shed in Iraq
See, when you throw out terms like "right wing states," what does that mean? States where people vote more conservatively? "Right wing" is a code word for negative, uncaring, prejudiced, bigoted. To assert that people who vote conservatively are "right wing" are unquestionably unGodly in their thinking, attitudes and beliefs is just plain arrogant and ignorant. How much time have you spent (not on vacation - but actually LIVED) in areas of more conservative thinking/voting? What is right wing? HITLER was right wing! What is left wing - it's not just liberal but EXTREMELY liberal, and intolerant in how they enact their liberalism. In fact,
extreme liberals and extreme right wingers (people who want to get and FORCE THEIR way or the highway - or WORSE, have often hateful, damaging beliefs and desire to FORCE down the throats of all others, uncaringly/callously (no matter the means), are just two sides of the same coin - there's not much difference between them.
As for the Iraq War, MANY of conservative views have great concerns about whether or not it was a good idea - (While Saddam HAD to go, if you remove the tyrant holding multiple, tribal, rival-hating factions together. then who is going to stabilize the resulting factional war and chaos?). But make no mistake, the "Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002" was passed by a bipartisan vote of Congress, with
82% of Democratic senators and representatives voting for it. And a very significant international force of U.N. members also took part in the action (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-Nati ... _coalition). So let's not infer that only those of conservative views and politics were for this.
It's sad for the right to use fear to sell books and other media. Fear is not a Christian value...and shows lack of faith in God's sovereignty.
Again, you disparage people who are rightfully and deeply concerned about the direction of our society as merely spreading fear and not trusting God. They don't have the right to author books or give opinions and only those disagree DO? So people of conservative values are spreading fear and hate, are not trusting God? But YOUR ranting about conservative values and your deep concerns that American society (post 1950-1980) has gone off the deep end, on what you see as a terrible trajectory, isn't ALSO mistrusting and dishonoring God? Well, if this is merely a matter of God's sovereignty, that our actions, policies and beliefs ultimately don't matter/aren't worth getting upset over, as He's apparently allowing it, then WHY are you upset about it. Why develop an entire blog to rant about it? You don't seem consistent in whose beliefs, actions and fears (ok, deep concerns) are not trusting God's sovereignty.
JC, here are the REAL problems with your posts:
I thought I would actually find more faith on a "Christian Discussion Board"
Again, disparaging the faith of others based upon your misguided understanding of God's sovereignty. Why are YOU so upset and seeing the huge need for a change in attitudes and policies? Are YOU not trusting God's sovereignty? Your criticisms are HIGHLY inconsistent and selective as to whom is supposedly lacking faith in God.
Dear misguided wanderers in the night:
So you're new to a web forum and that is how you address people. Me thinks your soapbox is just a bit too high.
More examples:
your false assessments is carnival clown laughable....
and adolescent clue-lessness...
It shows your arrogance...that everyone should obviously see the "emperor's clothes"....that are really not there.
Accusing others who disagree with you as having "laughable" opinions, that they possess "adolescent cluelessness" - think people want to listen to what you have to say after you insult them?
And for the board moderators that think they are above the guidelines...it's over the top...here in the land of the Giant hypocrites....
No, what the mods want is a civil, polite, NON-INSULTING discourse. Attacking a person so strongly usually shows an inability to persuade and make powerful points merely upon facts. OR it shows an inability to civilly disagree.
I never thought that it would be difficult for anyone on this forum to coherently answer this ONE question...without ranting. ....What are the coherent, scriptural references .....that are indisputable reasons to decide to
be a staunch, unwavering right wing ideologist and a Christian who loves God? (which is the majority of Christendom)
Wow, so now you're linking those of conservative views - calling them all a "right wing ideologist" - and them asserting that they are not only clueless ideologues, but that your assessment is true of the MAJORITY of all Christians? Can you not see how insulting and presumptuous this is?
what am I as a non-partisan centrist missing......?
You, my friend, are not anywhere NEAR the center, lest you'd be equally balanced in whom you criticize. You make references to various other factions, but you are fixated upon those of conservative Christian values. As for your self description of being "non-partisan" - are you SERIOUS?!!!
See the condescension dripping in your bolded words:
My quotes that you inaptly/ineptly assess pervertedly as "complaining"...
Is actually a written invitation for anyone to first answer the question above.....and be persuaded enough to
consider being a non-partisan centrist....that's what a sober person would glean from the post with a modicum of respectful decency.
Suggestion:Take your hypocrite glasses off first ...before reading...and re-read the post...
Pretend that I know nothing...and lead me there by writing clearly....as to a child...
Speaking down:
I also suggest that everyone that opines here needs to at least agree on basic political theory and definitions....pass a basic test?
..misunderstanding is causing some here to come to bizarre conclusions, labels, and assessments....adding unnecessary stress to simple things that I learned in the sophomore year in high school.....agreed?
JC, for someone who is self-described as being more spiritually concerned, you surely seem obsessed with politics and linking Christians of conservative views to categorically being in opposition to what Scripture teaches. But the real problem the mods have with you is your insulting and disparaging attitude and words. Polite discourse is just fine - no matter how you disagree, as long as you respect others and don't attack Scripture or Christians (
CRITICIZING Christians is fine - just do it in the right manner and with a respectful attitude).
