Was the scourging itself fatal?

From what I have read I think that if Jesus had been released after the scourging He would have died from it. Do you agree? If that's true did most people at the time know it, and that the condemned were scourged? Some people think Jesus meant to have himself taken down early and make a complete recovery. I have my doubts.

Yes, He would have died from the scourging regardless.

I am pretty sure he would have died.

I wonder if that was known by the people such things as crucifiction were supposed to deter and if it was common for the condemned to be scourged before crucifiction? Would Jesus have any reason to doubt he would be scourged and how severe it was?

Do you think anybody not divine could possibly believe in something enough to bring on crucifiction to advance their cause?

Nah, he would have just healed himself.
