My health

Hey all,

Would appreciate it if you would say a prayer for me. This is the third or fourth time I've been sick in as many weeks. Getting tough to get much accomplished. I think this might just be a run of the mill flu, but all the same, I'm sort of sick of being sick, ya know?

Thanks

Drink a lot of hot tea and liquids, stay in bed, have rest and peace and do not return until you are completely healthy. (Ok, for fun you are allowed to return ;) )

Get well soon y[-o<

Wanna some more wonderful music? ;)

Praying for you brother.
I got sick the Friday before Christmas and just started feeling myself again this week. Same for the wife. Nasty stuff out there, this year.

I am going to go back to my intense interval cardio workouts. While I was doing these, I didn't get seriously sick, and if I did get anything, it was usually gone within a day or two. This year I've slacked off and got the worse sinus stuff I've had in 5 years.

These can be done on an elliptical, stair stepper, etc. You could also incorporate in other ways. The point is to get the heart rate up.
2 minute warm up on light resistance.
30 second full explosion on increased resistance.
90 seconds on light to medium resistance.
Repeat this sequence seven more times for eight total, all out 30 second bursts.
2 minute cool down

This is only a 20 minute work out, but you will be spent. In fact, most cannot complete this workout the first time. The point of the burst is to acheive your maximum heart rate, which is 220 minus your age. By the fifth interval, you should be hitting this, and then again each consectutive time. There is something about this workout that jacks up your immune resistance. At least that is my experience. My guess is that hitting max heart rate simulates a fight or flight response, releasing endorphins, etc. Obviously, if you have any history of heart problems, do not do this without consulting a physician.

Hope you feel better Jac. And ignore Kureiuo. He liked your post saying you were sick. That's not very nice. Shame on you K. :nono:

And I think there's something to what jlay is saying too. I haven't been sick this year yet, and I've stepped up my cardio the last couple of months. I do hiit on the exercise bike, and to a lesser extent, while running.

And get some rest sonny! You aren't a spring chicken anymore!

Just gives me more time to spare before he responds to my posts.

Much harder thinking and writing is required when discussing things with him, unlike say... clowns. ;)

I'm sure Jac will take it as a compliment. Unless you were referring to my comment about clowns... :)

Praying for you, Jac!

By the way, how many of you have had flu shots?

It's a non-scientific survey - did some get the flu yet who also got the shot.

I rarely get the shot. Last year, I had what had to be the flu - kept me hammered for a week, and weak as a kitten for another 10 days after it cleared out. First one in 25 years. Viruses are typically 4-5 days max - at least for me.
