I realy don't want my opinions to come into this or they might influence your replies.
What do you think of the phrase "Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so?"

Re: Song "Jesus loves me"
I think it's a children's song that is not necessarily meant to be viewed as a literal statement. I don't think the author would hve meant for it to be taken as a type of conclusive theological statement. Jesus loves me, this I know for the bible tells me so. Indeed it does, but of course the Holy Spirit convicts our spirit to this truth. Many people read the bible but without the Holy Spirit they are just words on page.
I read somewhere a while back, I can't remember where a type of critique I guess questioning this exact line of the song. Whilst I actually agreed with what was being said, I thought it was perhaps taking a little too seriously what is I think a really simple but beautiful song.
Jesus loves me this I know for the bible tells me so,
Little ones to him belong they are weak but he is strong,
Yes jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me, yes Jesus loves me
For the bible tells me so.
I think it says more of the right stuff than not.
This was my favourite song as kid in Sunday school, I had two favs, the other 'the Lord is my Shepherd'
I sung it to all of my children when they were babies to help get them off to sleep, and I still do with my 4 year olds when they wake in the night after a bad dream.
It's okay by me, in light of what it's intended for

Re: Song "Jesus loves me"
I like the song, it is simple and to the point, Jesus does love us and the Bible is one of the places that tells us this.
It is written for children and I loved singing it as a child.

1Tim1:15-17
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.Amen.
