Why has the media ignored nearly 2000 killed in Nigeria?

Islamic Extremist gang Boko Haram have killed 2000 in Nigeria, but yet the media has been almost silent. In the latest attack, the bodies lay dead on the road days after, authorities and family too scared to retrieve them. It is reported as part of the attacks, Boko Haram strapped two 10 year old girls with explosives that killed many at a market place. There has been no outpouring of sympathy from international leaders and the contrast between the Boko Harum massacre and Charlie Hebdo is troubling where 12 died.

By media do you mean TV news?
Because I see many newspapers on Google having Nigeria 2000 killed in the text.

Our news in Slovakia are ignoring suffering of people on Ukraine. And it is behind our own border.

Melanie,

I'm not sure why it isn't making headlines more.

Are certain media outlets worried about it turning into a war against Islam? Are the media outlets afraid of Islam?
Since it's Muslims killing Christians, do they hold a bias against Christians?

Some think that this is primarily a spiritual battle, and the "spiritual force(s)" behind Islam is the problem.

This may come off bad, but:
"Blacks" killing "blacks".

Maybe Paris is more in headlines because it happened in Paris.

The media hasn't been silent here, it was on the news last night or the night before, we both live in the same country so I guess maybe it is a state issue????

Let's not forget that Africa has been at war with itself since forever, I guess people are desensitized to the plight of African nations, not saying it is right but just saying how it is.
