I found this very interesting, especially since some uninformed people still think the RCC was/is against science:

The Vatican Observatory is one of the largest and most advanced observatories in the world dedicated to astronomical research and education.

One of the main guys at the :::gasp::: discovery institute jay richards is catholic and a :::gasp::: intelligent design advocate :mrgreen:


I'm kinds hoping he will influence more Catholics towards ID :)

Didn't they force people to believe the earth was flat for a long period?
And also that the earth was at the centre of our solar system?

No, but i'm sure you could find an article that claimed that.
I would do some further reading into the Galileo trial.

There's a few fascinating book that are very fluent reads about it. "The Trial Of Galileo" is an excellently researched one that I, personally loved. Big myth killer.
