From NASA's Page
The first exoplanet orbiting another star like our sun was discovered in 1995. Exoplanets, especially small Earth-size worlds, belonged within the realm of science fiction just 21 years ago. Today, and thousands of discoveries later, astronomers are on the cusp of finding something people have dreamed about for thousands of years -- another Earth.
To find out if NASA really has discovered "another Earth," the agency is encouraging space exploration fans to tune into a livestream of Thursday's teleconference, and to check out their Kepler mission website.
Artist rendering released by NASA shows a planet outside the solar system that was detected by NASA’s Kepler spacecraft. (NASA)

If this turns out to be promising, its a great find.
What are your thoughts, if we find life over there or somewhere, how much does it put a affect our story of creation and special place in this universe?

It would be a blessing if they missed the cairns and got lost on the way back. Or if
the Thing on the ice got them tonight.
I could only turn and stare in horror at the chief surgeon.
Death by starvation is a terrible thing, Goodsir, continued Stanley.
And with that we went below to the flame-flickering Darkness of the lower deck
and to a cold almost the equal of the Dante-esque Ninth Circle Arctic Night
without.

Re: Another Earth - NASA hints at planetary discovery
I don't think it would affect it much, more than pose some questions that need answering.
However, I don't expect to find complex life elsewhere in the universe, however possible simpler signs of life via contamination from Earth.
I wonder if this planet has water, oxygen and fertile for life like on Earth, but is otherwise quite bare
-- whether such would impact beliefs vice-versa re: certain evolutionary scenarios?
