This just happened a few miles from me: http://www.wistv.com/story/30208999/sav ... ood-waters
The Midlands of SC has just experienced a once in thousand years flooding. Fourteen people died. Roads are out, many homes were destroyed, many small damns failed. My boys will be out of school for the entire week. Lots of people living in shelters. The little trickle of a creek and road beside it, just 50 feet from my backyard, had 6 feet of raging whitewater on top of the road, Sunday morning. It was surreal. Double whammy, a low in the Gulf combined with the tail of that hurricane. Our house and neighborhood were extremely blessed to have not had anything but a bit of washing on our gravel road.
