Is Christophobia linked to being a closet Christian?
Just thinking, I wonder if those with an irrational fear or hatred of Christians are really because they like Christians. Thoughts?

Or....
Christians (proper, genuine Christians, not the sort that just wear it as a badge) probably scare people.
God scares me.
How can I stand in the presence of something, someone so holy?
To know someone, anyone, that good and holy has to be a scary thing. So, if someone expresses hate or fear, then something has got under their skin. It can be hard to look in a mirror sometimes.

You got it wrong!Kurieuo wrote:Just thinking, I wonder if those with an irrational fear or hatred of Christians are really because they like Christians. Thoughts?
They have an irrational fear or hatred of Christians because they ARE Christians.

Hmm. Makes so much sense RickD! That's for clarifying that.

We can never know WHY people choose to reject Christ, only God knows for sure ( sometimes people don't know themselves the real reason they reject Christ).
That said, I know enough non-believers to understand that believing in Christ would require they do things that they do NOT want to do.

There is the concept that God doesn't want anyone to have any fun in life because of all the rules and regulations they find in Scripture. They don't realize that because God Does love us that He Gives us rules / regulations to follow.
This is the first time I've heard the term 'Christophobia' -- being afraid of Christians / Christianity and what it represents. Maybe it's because the Holy Spirit is convicting them of their sins and they don't want to have to give up anything. They think that they can never be good enough to Be a Christian. Which is true. No one can ever be That 'good'. It's what Jesus Christ has already done for us that we need to acknowledge our need Of and accept it.
And a Christian will Not have a desire to hide their Christianity. When we ask Jesus Christ to be our personal Savior, and the Holy Spirit comes to indwell us -- it will make a very Positive difference in our lives. Inner peace / loss of guilt. A desire to read God's Word and develop a relationship with Him. Talk to Him about our lives, the little things and the big things. He Can give us the perspective we need for daily living. But Satan is Also very much alive and well and will do Anything in his power to distract us From Godly living. But God is Stronger than satan. Much stronger. So we grab on to God through Jesus Christ and resist the devil. He's still around , but we have a Stronger God to help us.
